Right now i haven't anything to play so i decided to play far cry 2 one more time. I heard two patches got out since the game was released - 1.01 and 1.02. Is there a crack for v1.02 that of course doesn't reverse the patch's effect once applied? Smile

Naw, and if it weren't for the cheathappens trainer that allows you to set a point you can always teleport back into, I wouldn't have completed this game. That trainer feature alone immensely increased the entertainment value of FC2; instead of riding around half the time and dealing with the stupid respawns, you only have to ride one way (setup the telepoint to somewhere like the center city bus station and you're set). So much better it's unbelievable - makes me kinda doubt if the FC2 devs really played their own game extensively. No one in their right mind would enjoy Far Cry 2 in its original state.

I'm thinking exactly the same, I think it's strange that there hasn't been released a working 1.02 crack yet.

I patched the game to 1.02 and applied the first (doubt a second one exists) razor crack. In-game, in the main menu to be precise, i see v1.02 but am not sure the effects of the patch will be in effect when playing....

I totally failed by forgetting to read the source article, it's all about multiplayer again as far as I see with no real changes mentioned for single player.

EDIT: Although reading it again that particular option does sound more fitting for singleplayer.
(Hardcore might also be for SP come to think of it.)

LOL 3 guns and 2 trucks and you gotta pay for that. How dare they charge for this garbage after releasing such a mediocre game. I hope the non steam version of DLC (if it ever comes) gets pirated to hell and back.

Managed to get ahold of the DLC content without a extra purchase of the main game.

Go to (Via "regedit" in the run prompt to launch the registry editor) "Hkey_local_machine\Software\Ubisoft\Far Cry 2"

Add a new string value with the name FORTUNESPACK and give it a value of 1 to enable it.
(Don't forget the stuff mention previously to add the bonus content and unlockable machete models.)

Then drop this in the game folder \Data_Win32\ directory and it should add the new content to the game.
(Weapons in the armory, new maps for MP and the various vehicles on the new maps and randomly in the game world.)

JB thanks as always. Just wondering what do you mean by "bonus content and unlockable machete models"? These are bonuses for vanilla game and not related to DLC, correct?

Correct and it's for the special missions where you track down notes left by your predecessor plus a choice of three skins for the machete. (Normal/Modern and Primitive and lastly Homemade, visual only and no gameplay changes.)

The easiest way to unlock everything without creating a online MP account and using the extras menu is to use the registry editor again.

HKey_Current_User\Software\Ubisoft\Far Cry 2\

Create three new DWord keys (32-bit) and name them "PartnerKey1", "PartnerKey2" (Might not do anything but listed in the game content.) and "MachetesKey"

EDIT: For the registry changes in my above post you also need to go to the "Wow6432Node" before the "Ubisoft" key under x64 OS's
(Server 2008 and Vista 64-bit mainly as not many people have XP-64 or uses the W7 betas)

There's no key for the DLC as far as I know (Uses Steam with a registered copy of the main game from what I know.) aside from the registry value above to enable (Or disable) it, I know the new vehicles are available on the new maps but I'm unsure how the weapons are integrated.

If you meant it to my above post then it's just as a notice that registering a online account should give you the menu option to alter the machetes appeareance via the main menu. (By adding that specific reg key.)

I am waiting for a mod for to "fix" this too (and i knowi im not alone) before even considering playing the game.

I actually like the game overall but those respawning points just annoy me too much for me to go for a serious run. I played the game for like 6-7 hours back in november and the respawning got the best of me Surprised.

Hopefully a mod will take care of this soon.

1) If I apply the 1.02 patch and then the old razor crack will I get the new widescreen option they added ? (according to the changelog) and has anyone played the game with the old crack ... does everything work fine ?

2) @ JBeckham : Is it enough to create those 3 dword reg keys ? (Their values are 0 by default, they don't need to be 1 or anything, right ?) I've also added the other key and threw the "downloadcontent" folder inside Far Cry 2\Data_Win32 and used the 2 password to unlock the unlockable content from the game's menu. Any more tricks ? Very Happy

EXE related code changes won't work with older cracks on newer patches so I doubt the widescreen fix is available if you use that method.

As for the rest creating those keys just tells the game to use those options and "1" enables them while "0" disables them. Smile

Not much else I can say, there were a few console commands in 1.01 to tweak LOD distance further but it was disabled (Along with several other console commands) in 1.02 so now only a few generic commands remain.

I got this game with my purchace of my new GFX card, I'm gonna try this out in MP since the single player bored the holy crap out of me. The MP looks ok but seems like nobody is playing it. o.O

There is a German loader for the 1.02 that it appears to work fine with all the languages.

Yes everything from 1.02 including widescreen and even multiplayer (if you got a legit key) works with the old razor crack. But I still prefer to use original no dvd check 1.02 exe provided by JB Smile
