xbox 360 has 3 cores. the more cores the better it runs. since it originally developed for a 3 core system. so more than 3 cores makes it run better. i wouldn't play this game if you have a single or dual core. wait until you update your system to four cores then try it again.
i did. i went back and played dark messiah of might and magic with my quad core system that i have now. back then (2 years ago?), i had a crappy system that could barely play it. so, i shelved it. now that i have a good system (q6600, 8800 gt 512 mb, 8 gb ram, vista x64 sp1), it plays smooth as silk. i'm also revisiting morrowind, oblivion, gothic 3, etc (old games that don't play well on my old system).

Comparing the 360's 3 Cores to PC cores is kinda ridiculous...
I cant be fucked to explain it right now but im sure some one else will.

@Hecknow
I ran Dark Messiah, maximum settings, flawlessly on my 7900GTO and my dual-core Opteron. And as far as the TriCore 360 processor? PowerPC <<<<<<< x86 architecture.

What a preposterous statement. DC processors make up the lion's share of the desktop market -- and single-core procs no doubt outnumber quads too, so optimising the game solely for a specification that is in the MINORITY is pretty fucking stupid .. and defending that logic is stupid on a level I can't even begin to express. |
Ok, did you see the smiley ??? get the bee out of your bonnet.
Edit: To explain some more - the game seems to be made for quads, not for anything lower. So yeah, its not optimized for the majority of PCs - which it should be. But, I don't care - I have a quad.

Oh I wasn't e-peen'ing, bud.. just mentioning how Dark Messiah ran fine on duals and didn't need a quad. Sorry if I wasn't clear >_<

A guy I know has Q6600 (quad) and I E6750 (duo). We both had same fps with same settings, same res, same video cards, same amount of RAM, same OS. Difference was his cpu was only 47% used and mine 97%. So get your facts straight.

For the love of God. See, this is what I'm talking about!! Your proc was using 97%? Mine was only in the 70s! Why the hell is there a difference on a game that is, supposedly AND obviously, CPU limited?
Call me nuts, but I WANT the game to use every goddamned megahertz! If it's only using 72% of the processor, then that's 28% just going to waste!

Are you both running your procs at the same Ghz? What happens if you both increase the res etc - this is something I would want to know if any difference appears.

This game is horribly coded and optimized, that's why. It's a disgrace to PC gaming.
When I popped my old 8800GT in my brothers shitty old computer with Pentium D 3.2Ghz and 1GB of ram, FPS in CoD4 and other games jumped like 5 times. He can play that game maxed out now. When I installed my new GTX260 not so long ago I got around 2x FPS boost in every single game, but GTA4.

His quad was running at 3.0ghz and my c2d at 3.2ghz. Dunno about different resolutions, it was irrelevant for us so we didn't test that.

Usually it is best to set the page file to 1.5 of the total amount of memory, and this is what usually Windows does.

With some exceptions, having a low amount of memory means you'll need a larger pagefile albeit it's still good to have a size of roughly 2 - 2.5 GB (Larger if needed, there's no disadvantages aside from it taking more disk-space.) so that it can handle any amount of data, specifically Vista uses it a bit more than XP from what I've understood.
Also set the system to have no page file, reboot and if needed delete it unless Windows already did and then set up the new one in order to start on a "clean" (unfragmented) file unless you have programs that also defragments the pagefile.
