Been doing this for years..Using Newzbin Pro. Have a newshosting account. For years, been downloading at an average speed of around 1mbps.

Now, all of sudden when I begin downloading, my pc comes to a halt. Opening apps takes forever, surfing takes forever, etc. Tested using different newsgroup apps (grab it) - same issue. Reduced connections to 1 - same issue. Reinstalled windows xp (using sp3 latest updates) about 5 x - same issue. Disabled NOD32 - same issue (even tested with a clean install and nothing else installed).

Im at a loss. Using a wifi connection (dd-wrt firmware -latest) 100% strength. Maybe cable company did something to my connection recently? I can still download at fast speeds- just everything on pc freezing.

I just took out 1 GB (512 x 2) sticks of memory. Now Im running 2 GB total (had 3GB total). So far, so good. No freezing. Maybe this extra 1 GB I picked up (from ebay/used) went bad after a year. It was Samsung brand.. Wow...If this fixes issue, Ill be very happy!

**Nope - same issue.. Oh well. Back to drawing board...Freezing still occurs. When will this ever end...

Update- Found issue. PCI- Express Network Card (Abit Airpace Ethernet Card WIFI) was the problem. This card was a piece of junk from the start. Half the time I have to reboot the pc for it to find it.

Spent entire weekend, re-installing windows about 5x, taking apart pc. Glad I found issue though. Using my trendnet USB N now (no issues)..Will be looking for a new wifi pci adapter n.
