Driving ANY car in GTA4 is like sailing a boat. They don't have inertia, they have weights in the tires. Handling is beyond disgusting and the overall "feel" of the cars is one of a barge.

I fully agree about the driving and physics in gta best yet in an open world game.

Personally I quite like the handling.

It takes some getting used to but it makes you work at it a little to give it at least a little challenge, without being so hard as to make it no fun.

Think they've got just about everything in the game perfect, with the exception of no mid mission save points on the longer missions.

Oh, and the graphics not optimised enough of course, but that's graphics and of little importance next to gameplay.

I like the handling too. It may not be perfect, but better than the previous ones that´s for sure.

It´s a shame that the game is almost unplayable with a mid range rig (x2 5600+ and 8800gt 512 here) in this "beta" state of development.

meh, I think I should move to SR2 topic Sad.

First off, euphoria IS an physics engine. Sure, it works with other engines like havoc (star wars) but in GTA 4 euphoria handles all the physics of people and objects and to a degree also the cars.

Q: Is euphoria a physics engine?
A: No, euphoria is not a physics engine. euphoria simulates the human (or animal) motor nervous system on Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and PC. One can think of it as biology meeting robot control theory. euphoria integrates with a game's existing physics engine, which provides the basic body physics (commonly known as 'ragdoll physics'). euphoria adds life to the dead physics simulation. In short, ragdolls are dead, floppy bodies. euphoria characters instead are alive and adaptive.

Well, I know quite abit about about euphoria, and it DOES have a (although pretty simple) ridgid-body physics simulator that GTA4 is using for some common simple objects so that it wouldn't be a bitch to get several different systems working together just to make the smaller stuff interact. But I admit you probably can't call it a physics engine.

Multiplayer still works for most ripped Steam titles albeit not on "official" or retail-version servers, probably doesn't mean much in this game though.

Once you get used to the driving in GTA IV, it really shines. I hated it at start.

But yeah, whatever, lets move on, Saints Row 2 sucks when it comes to driving.

Yeah, Saints Row is really shitty at driving-physics! I hate it, absolutely terrible. GTA got 10x better driving imo.

Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

Played Saint row 2 properly last night...

Its complete shit lol. Driving physics are shit, something quite comparabe to a game boy racing game.

THe whole atmosphere just isnt as good as GTA.

Im sure it will run a whole alot smoother than GTA because the Graphics just arnt in the same legue, as it looks really bland.

GTA IV> SR2.

Unsure about the file system but modifications could help if it's possible to alter the files and data of the game, same with GTA IV.
(Altough GTA does have the advantage of being very easy to modify once you've taken care of the file check protection.)

Judging from what you're saying about it, you obviously haven't played it more than 10 minutes.

10 minutes is enough to realise that SR2 is much more arcade. GTAIV is trying to be realistic in every way unlike SR2. So based on that GTAIV is the winner.

Yeah.. and while striving for "realism!!! z0mg!!!" Cockstar forgot about what makes a GAME; fun! SR2 is infinitely more fun than GTA4 will ever be. So based on that, SR2 is the winner.

I personally am sick of realism + game combination , takes all the fun and brings room for frustration and boredom, arcade/simple type of games is what I remember I had most fun with
this game by any means doesn't take itself seriously and delivers what it's made for
games are GAMES not simulations , they're supposed to be fun/challenging , not realistic

I had more fun in 30mins on SR2 than I did in 3HRS in GTA4. If I wanted "realistic drivingzzzzz" I'd play rFactor. If I wanted "realistic graphixxxx" I'd play Crysis.

...Of course graphics don't make a game, but they certainly do enhance game play experience and of course having a super realistic game dont make it super fun.

GTA IV has a pretty good balance on GFX and realisim.

Dont get me wrong its still an arcade type.

I personally prefer GTA's euphoria system over SR2 ragdoll.

Watching people acctually interact with your car as you run over them is so much better than a bone less rogdoll.

After i got the hang of GTA iv car handling (30 mins) i really enjoyed it.
The driving in SR2 is so on rails, its almost like im driving a train.
Physics in it arnt good for pulling off power slides. But even that is just one of many reason why i prefer GTA.

SR2 strikes me of been more of a wanna be gangster game.
Alot of over the top gangterism ...

The whole game reaks corniness.

I'll still give it a better chance when it comes out on pc.

My opinion is based on a good 1 hour of gameplay.

GTA4 and SR2 are two sides of the same coin, both cater to a slightly different crowd. I for one couldn't see what was so great about SR2, while GTA4 I've bought. You either like one or the other, doesn't mean one is worse than the other. Both have their strengths, I'd rate them equal.

Let's just compare which is the better port.

The better performing one wins.

I just hope that this won't set a new low for ports, let GTA4 keep that title for a long time.

yes GTA IV was good the pc version i mean but anyway enough bugged at launch also cause securom DRM shit. SR2 will go to use steam only and a internet connection required to play singleplayer too so i think that it will be a little better that GTAIV almost less bugs
