So, I have these pretty cheap discs that I'm trying to burn games on. The burning process works just fine, no errors or anything. But reading the disc, doesn't work for some reason. My 360 doesn't even recognize there's a disc in the tray, and when I try reading it in XBC, it tells me it can't read the XEX and XDVDFS. Can I solve this, except by getting new discs?

Dosen't sound like it to be honest.
Have you tried burning at 1x and seen if it makes a difference?

That's because dvd burner in your computer and dvd drive in your xbox is not the same thing. Disc readers in consoles usually need quality media burnt at low speeds to work properly, while PC dvd drives can read/write pretty much any shite media your throw at them.

As poster above said get Verbatims and burn at 4x (don't bother with 1x, it won't make a more quality burn, best quality dvd burn speeds are 4x-8x)

You don't tell a lot in your first post.. do you burn with Imgburn ? what burner do you have ? and what is the brand of the media ..? when burning with imgburn make sure you load the .mds file and not the actual image file (.img) otherwise layer break isn't select correctly.

its not true actually some drives are more picky than other drives Hitachi for example is supposed to be picky about medium.. ,the other 360 drives Samsung ,BenQ,Liteon can load the cheap media with no problem. Smile but it also depends on the dvd burner I recommend a Pioneer or a BenQ and burning at 2.4x for the cheap media, Verbatim can be burned at higher speeds.

I've tried burning with XBX and Imgburn. About the brand of the media.. Not sure, all it says on the disc is Premium DVD+ Recordable Double Layer 8.5GB 8x Certified. In Imgburn, my drive is called _NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A. Not sure if that helps.

Also, after I've burnt a game in Imgburn, the verification that comes after it fails about halfway.

I'm pretty sure the problem is with the discs, since I've burnt other discs with no problems at all.

cheap media is not really suited for 8x speed even if it says so so I always buy cheap media but I make sure they are labeled as 2.4x speed. you could try to get your hands on some Arita 2.4x DL media here in the Netherlands they are 15 euro for 25 peaces and they work flawless. Smile

I'm not wasting anything. If I wasn't buying Verbatims I would be wasting. Believe it or not, but Verbatims here are the same price or even cheaper than shitty brand dual layers.

If you have a Hitachi in you 360 I can understand I read about thats that one is a picky about media.. but the fact is that BenQ ,Samsung and Liteon can read the Arita 2.4x media without any problem whatsoever I burned now serverel games on 4x speed and one on 8x speed without an problem..
no way you can get 25 Verbatim media for only 15 euro... that is the price of these nice Arita's.
its every one own choice I am just here to inform that the Verbatim is only all hype its really not needed to use Verbatim for the 360.

sure it can read them, but I wanted to burn them at a higher speed then 2.4x just for testing purposes...and to my surprise they work without any problem at 4x and even on 8x.
tool is MediaCodeSpeedEdit you need to flash your dvd writer though so only use it if you know what you are doing. I advice everyone here to give Arita 2.4x DL discs a try you will be surprised. Smile

just FYI, i use memorex on my hitachi xbox 360, they work fine, even at 8x except FMVs are sometimes laggy... I'm pretty sure Verbatims would make a difference though, I remember it did on my PS2, specially during FMV playback.

Yep back in the day when i had a Xbox 360 with a Hitachi before it RRODded on me i used memorex as well because i had an older firmware and this were the only disc's it would read, it refused to play Verbatim and other brands, cost me a lot of money testing all the motherfucking disc's.
