It's the downside to driving games on the PC, I'm afraid. A button (either on controller or keyboard) is usually a simple ON/OFF affair, which makes driving in games a bit more tricky. You're either full acceleration, or no acceleration. When using controllers with analogue inputs, you get to control the speed -- which is why driving games will always rule on consoles.

Before you explode from console fanboyism know this - there are controllers for PC. Rolling Eyes

Heeeey! Since when was I a console fanboy?? Dude, I've spent thousands on my PC! I *love* my PC!

I was saying that, for most people, driving games on the PC suffer from the issues I described. Of course there are analogue controllers for it! I never said there wasn't!

Just login to your gamespy account, or create one free.

Co-op here i go!

cheers...

this game is steam only = online only. that mean that to play the entire game you need steam installed and a connection. naturally multiplayer need steam and not gamespy. the razor release is "homemade iso" with a custom installer

oh god please no more Laughing

ok but if it use gamespy for multiplayer one have just to create an account for steam and one for gamespy too so it sure don''t work. look to red alert 3 it don't work online in coop and it use gamespy. there is the online coop tool but is not the same thing

You know jack fucking shit, loser.

I've JUST PLAYED IT ONLINE! Online play works PERFECTLY. You don't need Steam, ever, you only need a Gamespy account.

As for the game itself? Broken, buggy, poorly-performing mess. The driving is ruined beyond repair over the 360 version. On the 360 version the driving was gorgeous, smooth, fun. On the PC it's ruined -- absolutely awful and no amount of patching will fix it.

Framerate is locked at 32fps, regardless of settings, so you can't get anymore than that. My average framerate is 15-25. Hits 32 when in buildings without many people, but outside (especially during the rain at the start) running/walking framerate is around 15-20. Getting into a car and the framerate fluctuates, painfully, between 17-28.

Overall opinion? Ruined port, ignore it if you don't already have it, uninstall if you do. Get the 360 version.

stop the bs about "you need an analogue controller to drive" im using my xbox 360 controller and the cars still drive like utter shit, the main problem is the lack of any kind of physics, its like driving a paperbox with 98%grip doesnt matter what car they feel the same

shitty port or not, a good port cant save a shitty game, i rarely come down on games but to believe this was released in 2008/9 ?? as a product you have to pay for is friegthening to say the least

gta iv was a crap port for pc and not the best game either (mostly due to be forced to run on bullshit activities) but in comparison to saints shit 2, it looks and behaves like the fuckin rolls royce of pc-games

The 360 version is 100x better than the broken mess we just got from Volition. The reason why the driving is fucked in this is because the PORT is fucked. You've obviously not played the 360/PS3 version, so I can understand your anger towards the driving -- I've just experienced the broken mess for myself and I'M angry like you are.

The game on the 360 is amazing, the driving is smooth and fun, the game is fun -- but the PC version is ruined.

Just played a bit.

The game is fun, and yes graphics\ai\sound\shooting system\driving\animations\physics on GTA4 is much better, but still the game is fun.

But the performance is awfull, driving in this game is impossible because of suttering, and the framerate is unstable.

While walking i dont get any suttering.

In some places performance is decent, in other places the performance is crap.

Graphics are decent, and i really hope a patch comes out to fix the performance problems, because the game itself is fun.

Without performance issues 7.5/10 for me, now with performance issues is a 5/10 game...

Now some questions :

How do i eat ? i just bought some food, but cant find the key to eat.

Can we use the mobile phone in-game, or we have to pause and go to option menu?

edit - Can we use our own mp3s on radio? and btw this game has a much better soundtrack then GTA4....

Can we play without clothes in the game? Laughing

Patches can be ripped pretty easily but a new crack would be needed for it to work properly so you're somewhat right. Smile

Game crashed when I alt-tabbed but aside from that there's been no problems or bugs, though as mentioned framerate is a bit unstable for some reason.

Also has to be one of the few games where you can crossdress and the level of customization on everything is pretty cool.
(Houses, clothing, character and so on.)

 Spoiler:

There's a ton of weird and interesting activities as well such as streaking or surfing (on car roofs) and similar though it usually only serves to build up enough respect to continue your primary missions. Smile

What I meant was that the game EXE by default checks with Steam and connects to your Steam account so if a patch updates the EXE you would need a new crack for things to work or a modified (Or patched.) Steam client to fool the program into thinking that you own the game.

EDIT: Crash might be because I kept it alt-tabbed for a while while I did other tings or due to the resolution hack.

You're talking to Boundle, mate. AKA; Gabe Newell. AKA; Steam-support extraordinairre.

He is convinced that you will never break Steam protection, that you can never play online with Steam games if they're cracked, and that SR2 can't go online because it's a Steam game.

ok but pathes will be applyed automatically from steam anyway. the patch will go to update the steam client first all and steam dynamycs files too. SR2 is not protected from nothing. it's not securom or other. for me steam is not a protection cause it's unbreakable and steamrips are not cracked. the retail is steam only too and steam work 100% online only almost for the full game

[EDIT: has been banned before and will be banned again for polluting the forum with his "steam is uncrackable" idiocy. Thinking about a provider-based ban... Rolling Eyes]

Fuck.
Guess there's nothing to do but to wait for Mirror's Edge and Empire: Total War.
And if those two get royaly buggered I'm limiting my gameplay experience to minesweeper and lemmings.

I've got the 360 version and you're right, they don't look THAT good - but they do look a shitload better than what we got on the PC.

Ah crap.. why..
And here I was, thinking I might get this for PC legally because I enjoyed the PS3 version while playing it at a friends place. Glad I decided to read this first Sad
I may not even waste my bandwidth on this and keep the good memories from the console version.
