Risk-based campaigns have their place, in games like the Total War series, but in a game like DoW, we want a story as well, and risk-based are very sparce on stories usually. This one supposedly has a good campaign, we'll see when it comes out.

Though, the current previewers say that allthough the campaign is long, it recycles alot of mission types..
I am sure I will love DOW2, but from all the information, it's starting to lean towars the feeling of "wish they had put this in, more of that, and this" allready!
Then again, a really well designed RTS/CombatSim can manage without too much fluff too.. well, just a few more days to the BETA..

But what's the difference between skirmish and risk-based campaign for Orcs (or other races)? Same thing.

Next month will rock. DoW2 and F.E.A.R.2. Too bad Empire:Total war was pushed back, it would have made a holy trinity of kick ass.

It was said somewhere, that they're going to use some kind of a new system in DOW2 for Live authorization, but you never know the truth till it's out.

New maps within a week of the games release, Relic is also interested in buyable DLC additions. |
Haha I'm sure they are interested in that. Better question is who the hell is interested in buying them.

It's also worth mentioning that the article says that they are interested in both payment based DLC's which I guess will be bigger stuff and free DLC's which I assume are smaller stuff but I wonder what they have planned?
Can't add new factions/races as a DLC I guess due to balance concerns but a bunch of maps aren't all that great either, will be interesting to see what Relic has planned for this game.

They will want to milk this game as much as DoW1, tons of expansion packs and pointless box sets.

I'm still wondering what additions makes it worth buying when you have the previous games, if theres any features that actually makes the game better besides the improved graphics.

Or are you referring to how DOW 1 compares to DOW 2?

Yep exactly. Of course I've already preordered as I love the original games, but still it doesn't look as innovative as Relic would have us believe.
Although I'll probably like this more than Starcraft 2 for instance, but when compared to DoW+ Official expansions, it just doesn't look all that impressive when you get past the graphics. To me the most innovative thing is the commanders and thats it, I fear the coop multiplayer will quickly become a novelty compared to ladder matches.

Can you possibly elaborate on what is different between the 1st series and this one?
What are you finding so intriguing about it?
Can't wait to play it myself when it comes out. Glad to hear the first beta report to be a positive one.

The entire cover system radically changes the game. Makes it a LOT more dynamic.
