Eh, just get those airheaded romantic comedies/dramas you'd never bother watching yourself.

Bridges of Madison County, Sleepless in Seattle etc.

kieslowski's 'three colors' films
alejandro gonzales' trilogy (amores perros, 21 grams, babel)
amelie

those are some of the ones mine likes and i know are actually good and not completely airheaded (ok, amelie was a bit light, but not dumb per se)

Aren't you both grown ups? My mom doesn't really watch movies that different from what I might watch, especially when it comes to "major" releases.

True. While my mom doesn't like some of the categories I like, most of the good, serious movies she does.

mums like action movies ffs. if she's a ditzy blonde in her 20s - 30s then chick flicks are yea yea good and all. but srsly. movies with brutish men, fighting, defending women... stuff like that.

feck, transporter series. Granted mums are women too... so they'd like chick flicks, but srsly, some good action movies mum will like. steven segal movies. jackie chan movies. jcvd movies.

a lot of stereotyping going on around here.
what's this idea that all moms like the same sort of crap? how'd you feel if your mom would wanna buy you a present and, instead of finding out what you'd want, she'd go to a store and ask the clerk for something that someone of your age would like ?

if i were your mom, i'd be ashamed that my son has to ask strangers for movie recommendations. you should know what she likes by now and if you dont, you could always ask her to name some favorite movies and get her something similar.

Well, even tho you know what genre she likes doesn't mean you know every movie in that genre. Ofc there are a lot of movies you might miss and have never heard about that might be very good.

lol. I dunno about most other users here but my mums favorite films are Air bud, 50 first dates and other of the kind of shit that NO ONE likes. You can just go to the bargain bin of your local DVD store and pick up 50 of these crapfests for like a quid each. Save the bandwidth lol.

Mamma Mia was the worst horror movie that I've witness on my entire life, I say horror movie, because I went through some personal horrific moments in my life because of that movie, first, when my wife first heard about it, she went to watch the trailer on youtube, and then ask me like 5 times a day, "is there any release of it yet", then when it finally was released, I was with doubts about copying it to her computer, but I figured that if she saw it, she might as well get over with it, but I was wrong, she watch the movie like 50 times on a week and then she would see some scenes of the movie for the following weeks, constantly bragging me about the movie, then christmas eve came, and yes, you are right, the selected movie to watch was Mamma Mia, then came christmas day, we went to my mothers house, and you know what?, Mamma Mia again, then came December 31st, there wasn't anything worth of watching on the TV, Mamma Mia one more time, January 1st, we went to her aunt, the conversation about movie began, and as much as I tried selling the greatness of The Dark Knight and The Wrestler and The Changeling or even Wall-E, I was silenced when some friend of my aunts brought Mamma Mia into the conversation, and guess what, they literally obligated me to download the movie, so the ladies could show the movie to the one women on the room that hadn't still watched the movie.

That movie is a drug to women and should be prohibited for women to see it.
