Just to point out one thing about the Gamespot review and the menu controls, you can use WASD (Or is it called WSAD?) to navigate the menus, beats using CTRL and SHIFT.

Anyone else notice the driving controls (with the standard WSAD) is shit. Like you press a (left) and the car doesnt move slight but jerks into uncoming cars.

Otherwise, this game is fuckin fun!. Didnt expect it to be so much fun but all the clothes you can buy and the way you can style yourself with tats and shit....awesome, wish GTA had this.
Game is perfect, cept for the diving controls.

And Im using a trainer so I have both the 2 60K cars, suped to the tits and they handle lke fuckin shit unless I drive slow.

Maybe a patch will solve this considering a bought the game. I downloaded it, played it for 30 mins, went out and bought it. Great game

I believe it's due to what Sabin pointed out that the console version and probably the PC version with a properly set-up gamepad can use the analogue sticks to more precisely adjust steering and speed of vehicles compared to the on/off design of a keyboard (Button is either pressed or it isn't, cars still take a while to accelerate and brake but it's not as smooth as on the console from how I've understood it.)

Can also use "cruise control" to set a speed and drive that way, explained in the first actual mission when you take that vehicle outside the bar. Smile

Nearly done with the Ronin missions now, unlocked a ambulance helicopter though it's pretty cumbersome to steer but it's quicker than taking the car/bike/boat road.

Cutscenes and proper lighting makes quite a difference in the visuals as well, AA makes the vegetation a bit pixelated due to my CCC settings (Adaptive AA with Edge Detect) otherwise it would also improve things a bit.

(Sorry for combining it with streaking it's just outside the clothing shop in the first mission but I accidentally attacked the peds in there so I couldn't access any clothes.)


EDIT: Speaking of trainers there's a +8 and +10 trainer available on GCW now. Smile

Is it hard to hookup a 360 controller to your pc? If so and you know how can you send me a pm with indepth instructions on how to? Or if you know a tutorial/paper that explains it, can you give me the link?

Unfortunately I don't have a controller myself, I know there's a windows or rather PC version of the X360 controller but I also think I've read somewhere that you can use the native X360 controller with some work.

EDIT: Seems to work with wired controllers with drivers.

Cuz the driving is fuckin driving me completely nuts. You tap a (left) and the car veers off into a fuckin poll or car or some shit. I dreading the racing missions....

The wired Xbox conroller should work right away on an up to date PC. You could also install the alternate XBCD driver which has better configuration options.

ok i have spent 2-3 hours playing this game & even though i'm not a fan of the graphics or driving cars in this game BUT i can honestly say its more fun to play than gta iv.
gta iv was like action movie & saints row 2 is how old gta games used to be lots of crazy fun missions.

I installed the driver and now the controller looks like it does when on the xbox. I press the xbox button and it shows the green light which means its connected and functioning.

But when I go to play the game, I cant find an option to use the controller. There's a "Gamepad" setup but all it does is list the keys....there's no option to make the controller the default device to play the game? Any suggestions?

EDIT

Someone please help, cuz the shitty driving controllers are pissing me off and what ive read, the prob will be fix using an xbox controller. My controller is connected, but doesnt work. Like I cant move my character or anything.

I thought i had it working and installed tho drivers. But when I press the xbox button to...load(?) the controller, it loads, but it starts my xbox. I have my controller hooked up to my comp wired. Not wireless.
Now Im confused.

So please, again, someone who knows the solution, please provide it Smile

Go to the Control Panel and open up your Sounds and Audio devices window. Under Speaker Settings click Advanced, then switch to the Performance tab. Set the Hardware Acceleration to Basic Acceleration. That's it, enjoy stereo sound Smile

Yes use this http://blog.gib.me/2009/01/06/saints-row-2-resolution-editor/ but everything will be stretched, I advice using 1680x945 which will have tiny black bars but correct AR.

I really like this game.
Yes, the overall performance is poor but the game itself is pure fun. Didn't have that fun since months.
I have to admit, that GTAIV has the better controls and graphics.
But you can do so much in this game world. Amazing!
So many activities (like whoring around. Very Happy ) and the fact to customize yourself completely, clothing, cars, houses, even your gang (a bit) and stuff makes this game high class, in my oppinion.
If there is a patch coming the game would be even better.
I have no issues with the Razor release. XBOX Controller works too without problems.

Are you using a wireless controller with the charge and play cable to attach it to the PC or are you using a standard wired controller?

Because the wired controller worked straight away for me.

the charge and play thing

like it has the battery pack and I put the thing in the top or whatever to charge the pack...once its charged, its wireless. So I take it i need prolly a different driver for mine as its wireless....

judging by your post i downloaded the wireless drivers and its the same fuckin thing.

Like I dont see how my controller is wireless. It can be both. I plug the recharge wire into it, then into the comp....why shouldnt it work?

Anyway, the wireless drivers dont work either......

You cannot connect an Xbox 360 Controller Via the Play and Charge Kit, It serves Only for Recharging the battery, No data can pass trough the wire. Only an wireless adapter with wireless controller, or an original Wired Controller.

Found a bug with mouse sensitivity, accidentally pushed it a bit too much while parked at a mechanic causing the vehicle to spin uncontrollably and breaking every part of it while still being considered fully repaired and "undamaged"
(Quite funny but also a big waste of the money I had to spend to customize that car, ha ha.)

EDIT: Come to think of it I wonder what would happen if one brings a custom vehicle to the mechanic. (Such as the unlockable "Pewee" or "D-Stroy".)

Codes for those who want them. (Use via the mobile phone function, doesn't affect the game but supposedly blocks achievements on the console edition aside from the special vehicles in the CE which are the Pewee and D-Stroy.
