1080p, for sure. 720p only when watching Van Damme/Seagal grade movies.

720p since my 40" sammy is 720p. The only reason that I would ever download an xvid is if something isn't available in high def now or in the future, and then, only maybe.

I stick with xvid/dvd, it's perfectly fine for me, especially since I only have my old Sony trinitron 29" CRT tv.

1080p > 720p > DVD-r
I only use xvid for tv-shows. Quality sucks too much for movies.

I only have a 32" screen so 720p is just fine...
1080p is overkill for me.
maybe if the movie is really good I'll dload it in 1080p

32" here too, twice as much space isn't worth it imo. Needs better hardware too. Think ill get a media streamer tho; Popcorn hour.

Depends on where I'm watching it. If I'm watching it on my tele in my room via my xbox360, , and expect it to be a good film, it's 720p.
If I'm watching it in the living room (I.E with someone else), it's DVD-R
If it's some shite film I just want to waste some time with, Xvid is good enough on my 19" screen. This may or may not change when I get my new 24" monitor though.

I vote for 1080p BUT :
- 1080p only for good or EPIC movies like Platoon, Pulp Fiction, Tropic Thunder, Dark Knight or The Terminator etc.,
- 720p for other movies and tv shows (only those i save on the HDD or DVD's),
- Xvid/DivX for tv shows i watch once and delete,
- DVD's for some movies i bought (i dont have a BD drive yet).

I can't tell a real difference between 720/1080p on a screen up to 42" but I didn't check out larger screens yet.

On a comp you can tell the difference if you have a good monitor
As for tv's, yeah you need like a 50+ inch to notice the difference...so I find anyway

xvids for me. Cant go wrong with a ''good enough'' quality movie at only 700mb that you can download and burn within 15 minutes.

If it has great effects, is an action movie or it's something like Wall-e then 1080, if drama then xvid will do just fine, dvd takes to much space for nothing.

Nope, there are several European broadcasters (like Sky HD and Pro7HD) which broadcast in full 1080p24 and 1080p25, and quality is pretty much crazy!
Makes me so envy of people being able to watch these all day long
