But that's the whole point, they're human, they're not perfect. You watch Stargate and everything looks cheaply perfect. Perfect shit that is.
BTW, why did they cancel the Stargates shows? I didn't liked them, but they were popular, weren't they?

no it doesnt man. they arent perfect at all. And its like fantasy sci fi. Season 9 and 10 were bad. But season 1-8 were good.
And SGA I didnt like but it grew on me.
Its not meant to be serious ya know?
And thats another problem I have with BSG. They try WAY to hard to make it SOOO dramatic and it makes it so fuckin cheesy its ridiculous ya know?

I haven't felt cheese in the BSG show, and I usually can't stand cheese even if it's intentional.
BTW, BSG has won several awards, which are usually given to journalists and documentary makers, for their stories.
But let's talk about 24, that what the thread's for. Dazz will come soon and see BSG all over it and explode!

bsg is cheesy man....like not the plots or anything. But the fact they try to make it SOOO serious and dramatic. It ruins it.
Wanna see a good serious sci fi show/movie? Sphere or Stalker or hell, even Event Horizon.
Good actors who can do drama well.
Anyway, back to Jack Bauer and his horrible acting (come on, the Lost Boys vampire....). Only movie i like Sutherland in is Flatliners.

this has the same idea, but goes much more in depth. only read the first of the series and it was pretty cool.

Movies I like Donald Sutherland in is Kelly's Hereo's (he plays Oddball, a movie from the 70's), 1976 Body Snatchers and The Assignment. He's really good in the Assignment.
But Kiefer....aside from Flatliners, hate him. The Lost Boys ruined him as an actor imo.
Worst vampire movie ever made.
My 11 year old niece, who gets scared easily but enjoys it didnt even get scared when we watched The Lost Boys.
Hell, we watched Mirrors and it didnt scare her yet she's scared of Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday The 13th movies ya know?
But she likes being scared. Just doesnt like realistic gore. Tried to watch 30 Days of Night with her and she liked it but when it got gorey she told me to turn it off. She's too young for gore still.
Cant wait for my 1st nephew gets to her age. Me and him are gunna have so much fun.
Im teaching him how to play videogames now. He's pretty good at MGS4. He rocks at FPS's and such. But Im trying to get him to learn how to play MGS/Splinter Cell kinda games ya know?

The CIP firewall concept is hilarious, but I don't expect shows or movies to get technical stuff right ever. And the new president is kind of hard to like (again with the cotton-idealism bullshit of let's save another country, showing only the good side of things, but who knows how it will evolve), but I'm sure I will get used to her. Only seen the first episode, but it seems entertaining at least (tho 24 will never be "great").

24 makes me feel like a total badass just watching it. When it's over, I go back to my normal, boring, non-jack bauer life.
thoughts on season 7: I like the setup, and the story has me on the edge of my seat. Jenene Gaurafalo is an odd choice for an FBI agent, but it seems to work well. At least Edgar and Milo are dead, they annoyed the fuck outta me. I'll bet that CTU is reinstated and Bauer and Tony (if he doesn't die again) are cleared of all charges by the end of season 7.

I wish they resurrected Michelle as well, then she could be the president that chases after her former husband okay that sounds bad like a soap opera. They didn't really give a convincing reason why Tony didn't die btw "he was rushed to the ER before you blinked Jack" you could say the same for Michelle.

The reasons there's a character called "Starbuck" is because there was a "Starbuck" in the original series...and that was before there was a Starbucks. |
also the name of the first mate in 'Moby Dick' that was written 160 years ago
In fact, Starbucks coffee is named after this
Quote: | The company is named in part after Starbuck, Captain Ahab's first mate in the book Moby-Dick, as well as a turn-of-the-century mining camp (Starbo or Storbo) on Mount Rainier. According to Howard Schultz's book Pour Your Heart Into It: How Starbucks Built a Company One Cup at a Time, the name of the company was derived from Moby-Dick, although not in as direct a fashion as many assume. Gordon Bowker liked the name "Pequod" (the ship in the novel), but his then creative partner Terry Heckler responded, "No one's going to drink a cup of Pee-quod!" Heckler suggested "Starbo." Brainstorming with these two ideas resulted in the company being named for the Pequod's first mate, Starbuck. |

Meh.
The final 10 minutes were great, but the rest of the episode was pretty shitty.
Spoiler: | Seems we're back with the pointless bullshit romances between the analysts, how I missed those from the last season.
The only worthwhile characters to watch(IMO) so far are unfortunately all together on the same scenes(Emerson, Tony and Jack) so the rest of the show is pretty crappy; the whole President/First Gentleman/Cabinet members, FBI, Matobo, black bad guy and white bad guy bits are all boring as hell. The FBI chick is ok, but her Bauer attitude seems kind of forced.
Funny thing, though. Just yesterday I saw Tony taking a bullet in the neck in Season 3, so when Jack pointed the gun at her i pretty much guessed what he was going to do. |
