Just add -norestrictions to your commandline.txt in game main folder (create it if you haven´t yet)

Did not work for me. I still cant choose High - it allows me to click on it - but doesnt give high as an option. Is it because of my rig? E6550, 8800GT

Tried that - now it bumped all down to Low..and i still can only choose med for textures. Also, when I do choose med textures, High for the other - game runs choppy now. All the options underneath it now say 1,0,0,0,0..What happened to the settings? Do I need to re-install GTA4 now?

Got it working with just "-norestrictions". I was launching the game with a shortcut of shortcut....I clicked on the shortcut LaunchGTAIV directly and it worked! Awesome..Now can play in high textures.
It says Im using like 800/476 memory (almost double over) - but game runs fine..wtf?!? I guess the memory bar is useless.

When going way above the memory limit you start seeing textures and other stuff popping up everytime you turn around, which i find very annoying. I`d rather run medium res textures because of that.

I have 3 GB of DDR2 memory. I cant image memory is an issue. Thats the max for XP..
Ohh.. unless you are referring to Video card memory which I have 512MB..

I see what you mean.. Bar table disappears, road disappears..Had to go back to Medium. Jeez - do I need 1 GB of vid memory for High? This is ridiculous. Atleast I can play the game though -at a whopping 15-20 FPS..yeahh..

This update does not even do much..even nothing at all..sticking with just the first one.
