The 360 has some stuff that isn't available in the DX9c spec, but it is very insignificant, as shown by the horde of games ported to DX9.

so they have no real reason to force dx10 and vista on people, especially if the game's not gonna look much better on pc. they could always leave the dx10 effects for those that use vista, instead of forcing people to switch.

i guess microsoft has too much money and they umm had to look after their own interests Neutral

Focusing on one version of DX can theoretically be considered good, because the developers only focus on these particular shader implementations, without having to redesign passes and calls for other versions. I'm not sure, but I think 360 shaders and PC shaders are somewhat incompatible, so porting still has to be done here and there, and I see no reason why not use DX10. Everyone already has DX10 hardware. Also, using DX10 exclusively theoretically allows them to design the shaders using different approaches, that were not possible in DX9.

yeah, well i have dx10 hw too, but seeing as ms doesn't support it under xp, i see this move as, let's say, hostile on ms's part and sell-out-ish on remedy's part.

MS doesn't support DX10 in XP because it's not possible unless they're rebuilding the whole OS to incorporate the new driver models and HAL-structure. With Vista they threw away D3D9 and built D3D10 from scratch to get rid of the cumbersome legacy stuff in D3D9.

You might as well ask why Xbox 1 can't run games for Xbox 360. Besides, now we have Win7, making Vista "obsolete". Wink

not really, the world won't end in 2012, but the begining of a big war is going to start in that year which lead to terminate humanity in big numbers.

2012 = start of a small war

2013-2020 = Wars everywhere in the world

2021 = Jesus return to save the world

the end (witch is a new beggining) , must come sometime probably soon, but i guess no one know's the right date and here it sound like like sci-fi new pc game story;)

VISTA wasnt built from scratch? its mainly based on XP? as XP was mainly based on 2k...
