COPIED FROM GTAFORUMS.COM

Quote:

I had an issue with Securom launching the game using my retail CD. It was not recognized as a genuine disk. So I sent them an an email and they responded back in less than 12 hours. They sent a link to a new LaunchGTAIV.exe file that happens to be a no CD launcher. Below is what they wrote with a link to the new .exe file:

==============
Hello.

Thank you for your e-mail.

Your issue can be solved with an updated executable.

Please perform these steps:
1. Open the folder 'C:/Program Files/===jeux/gta/Grand Theft Auto IV/'
2. Rename the 'launchgtaiv.exe' to 'launchgtaiv.exe.OLD' in the folder above (Right-click on this executable and go down to 'rename') 3. Download this zip-archive:
http://www.securom.com/support/customers/r...LaunchGTAIV.zip
4. Extract the new 'launchgtaiv.exe' from the downloaded zip-archive into the folder 'C:/Program Files/.../Grand Theft Auto IV/'
5. Start the new 'launchgtaiv.exe'

If the problem persists, please send another analysis file of the new 'launchgtaiv.exe' to us.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact us.

I started playing it yesterday seriously (doing missions and not just fooling around randomly) and man is the game fun. I like it much better than SA, this game just doesn't have any unnecessary bullshit that was so annoying for me in SA. The only thing bad about this game are technical issues, the rest is just pure gem Wink

I still can't install this crap, every time I get to 100% it wants me to insert disk one, which I do then its "Installing required windows media format components..." and when that is done it asks me to insert disk one again (which is already in) and does the same shit again, over and over and over.

I have a problem with Stevie's car thefts. Now I have about 80% game completed and I decided to do job for Stevie. I had message on mobile phone, saying that I need to steal Cavaclade somewhere. Ok, I found it and when I broke into a car and start engine there was a message on screen:"You've found car Stevie's car..." or something like that. So, what now?! I think I must deliver it to him in some garage or something, but there's no message, no phone call where I have to deliver it.
Then I saved game and went to the same place, where before I found this Cavaclade. It was still there and when I stole it nothing happened, I could just drive around with it.

You don't find the friendship/girlfriend mechanic annoying? I find the clothing requirements for some missions a bit aggravating too because I have a set outfit that I always prefer to wear.

you don't HAVE to be friends with everyone. i went out just a couple of times to see each type of "date" or whatever they're called. i went to the cabaret show quite a lot of times, though, since i liked it, it was surreal and funny.

you can save your outfit so it's no big deal to change it back. i was adamant to wearing a suit since i liked what i was wearing before, but after wearing it for a while i started feeling that it suits niko better at that point in the story, so i kept it for the rest of the game Smile

I do realise that, but the health system is so annoying (having to go find food during a mission ffs!) that I need to keep that annoying Carmen girl happy so I can heal on the go.

1. You need legit cd-key.
2. In game activate phone and choose multiplayer.

fuck the health system, the just use that code to refill your health, or a trainer. the game's too cool to let it get ruined by things like unbalanced difficulty.

The difficulties not unbalanced, it's just about right. It keeps it a challenge but there's very few missions where I've had to replay them.

In fact most difficult missions plant an armer and a health pack in the most obvious path through the mission to make sure it's not impossible.

Just because you're shit at the game doesn't mean it's unbalanced

Playing it on the 360 so that's not an option.

Well there are a couple of missions where you have to rescue people or complete an objective within a time limit. Which is fucking annoying when you're so vulnerable to bullets! Plus whenever I go to buy armour, ammo and health to prepare for a mission I always end up killing someone because I can't resist. Then the cops chase me, it escalates, and I end up dead. Meaning I rarely start a mission with full health/armour/ammo. Razz

can't you dial a number on the 360? i mean entering a number on the phone, not dialing someone from the list.

To be honest I haven't actually looked for any cheats, that's not how I play a game. I didn't realise it was a code you put into the phone.

well, i don't usually use cheats either, but when a game starts becoming more frustrating than fun, i'm not gonna keep repeating the same checkpoint over and over 'til i feel like breaking the controller Smile

Lol. hearing that. I just can't resist shooting those annoying preachers no matter how hard i try.

Do Steve's car missions. You end up loaded to buggery and you can buy armour as often as you like.

I'm having a few minor annoyances with the game.

Whenever I use a phone in a car and press "Select" with my LMB Niko breaks car window, why is that? So annoying.

Also there isn't an option to adjust voices volume, to sometimes while in a car it's very difficult to hear conversations, have to rely on subtitles.

If you rush and press select before he's got the phone fully up in front of him it will take it as you mean shoot, it's just the drawback of it using the same key for dual function.

Happens when you're walking round too.

Not sure what you mean there, as I tried both 360 and PC versions, PC looks better and alot less jaggy. That nasty blur is optional, performance is good on a decent machine, by good I mean it's better than 360 which is always stuck at up to 30 fps, where I run the game at 30+ fps at all times. Mouse aim is a joy, so are new multiplayer modes with 32 players.
