This game sucks. The GFX Is terrible, and SSAO fucks up the performance here. All maxed at 1280x1024 with AAx8 and not getting below 55fps, usualy stays at vsynced 60, with SSAO 25 at most.

The steering feels like... I know of no words that can describe it, this is just plain dumb. Just as lack of speed d'oh meter. Yes I DO know this is completely arcadish crap, but give me a break! Micro Machines V3 is superior in these terms to this crap.

No way to change language, it is somehow locked during instalation, changing registry entires doesn't work and there is only one language to chose in game.

Menu is fucking annoying. Took me 5 minutes to find graphical options in game. HOW HARD IS IT TO MAKE: SINGLEPLAYER, MULTIPLAYER, PROFILES, OPTIONS, CREDITS, GTFO!? Fucking EA "innovations".

And besides that sound isn't working properly, but that might be because I'm not using "gaming" sound card.

If this is the best consoles have to offer, then thanks, but no thanks.

Yeah, this game has 88% on metacritic because it simply sucks.

Definitely!

Both Burnout *and* Dead Space have been spectacular ports. Hey, even the PC versions of NFSU/U2/MW/Carbon have been perfect.

Throw Devil May Cry 4 into that mix.

Too right! Any new game that runs over 90fps with every option turned up high, including AA, is most definitely "well optimised" in my book!

Such a shame they didn't use the newly updated engine from DMC4 into a patch for Lost Planet... It was clearly much more optimized. Smile

Also Grid was a great port, also a shame there was no patch for Dirt to update the engine.

Dead Space is good but not spectacular because of no antialiasing. Not supporting AA is like kicking PC users in the (eye)balls.

Like for the release of Colonies, you mean? Shit yeah. I'd have bought Colonies for THAT, and not "ooh, boss time-trial!! oooh, cross-platform!!" bullshit that Capcom seemed to think was worth another £35.

Can't you force it like for Mass Effect?

It's not entirely true that DIRT is very unoptimized. DIRT has dense foliage and lots of trees. While GRID engine is in fact a little more optimized but that came at expense of losing a lot of extra detail that DIRT had.

Actually most of the slow performance in Dirt came from the sound engine (if you remember there were hacks to remove audio in the distance that made performance much better), out of all places. This was fixed in Grid.

E-Brake = instant brake + 90 degree turn. Extremely arcady handling.

tbh I associate pixelated games with the PC cause of my 2d pixel art "upbringing". nothing is prettier to me than Full Throttle or Diablo.

Anyone managed to make dual monitor mode working? I just get two stretched views in one monitor and the other one still show my windows desktop.

My guess is that developers wanted us to set "horizontal span" mode in nvidia drivers instead of dualview, but unfortunately it doesn't exist in Vista cause it was replacemed by "a better way to handle multiple monitors"..... where is that better way now?

Meh, didn´t like it...crashes are ok, but overall there are a few better options to play an arcade racing (or crashing) game. As someone said before, bikes handling feels much better than cars, and handbrake is absolutely useless.

On the other hand, the game doesn´t look bad at all, runs great and it´s only 3gb...but I just can´t play with that mario kart handling.

try starting regedit and doing this:
Browse to path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak".
Create new DWORD "NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage", value 0

or use rivatuner http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner

or refresh force http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/

In terms of GFX and physics , flatout is much better...

I played only 30m, the rage something... is fun to make the other cars crash, the normal races didnt seem so fun... and is to easy for my taste...

i was expecting more from this game, but i will play more...

The steering and controls just completely ruin this game. How hard would it have been to make the controls at least similar to Grid? Then this game would rock.

I feel Gfx in Grid are also better. It is a shame that Grid is not open-ended like Burnout though.
