|

This started maybe 2 day's ago, but strangely enough, it doesn't happen on the middle PCI-Express port, but the top slot, after between 10-30 minute's of Crysis War's, or any other GPU intensive game, i get this...
But after a reboot it goe's back to normal, is my card dying?
Idle temp's are 56C
Under load(War's) 85C

doesn't look like it's overheating, these cards can go up to 90C and work fine
does it has stock cooling?
if it happens only in the 2nd port could be your mobo, why not leave it where it worx best?

I'm just about to put it back in the middle port, yup it's stock cooling, i hope it's not my motherboard, i just bought the damn thing, only had it less than a week.
Oh and also, i'm a bit freaked incase i go SLI and it is my board, and it start's freaking out on me.

Either motherboard or memory, but you say on the middle PCIe it doesn't happen. It could be that the link is faulty.

well if it's port specific then the only way to be sure that it's not a mobo's fault pop different card in it
for stock cooling idle temp's are pretty good, load temps not great but will suffice, i suggest u slap Arctic Accelero S1 Rev.2 just to be on the safe side, it's cheap and reliable

Well, it happened on the middle port last night, and there is no chance all 3 PCI-E port's can of gone sour in less than a weak, so i'm thinking, it's a GFX card problem, i'm thinking about replacing this card next week, but to be honest, everything is good, until i start gaming, then it goe's to crap.

could be failing memory on video card, try to down clock it by 100mhz and see if that helps

I reinstalled O/S left it running over 5-6 hour's, not one graphical hiccup, and i played War's for maybe 20 minute's, and it was fine, but i haven't installed and GPU software like Rivatuner/Ati tool's, this is a very wierd problem, with it being this spontaneous, make's it kind of hard to fully troubleshoot, but i think your right, probably memory in my card faulty.
Note...I did something i heard on a website about my board and the soundcard it comes shipped with, it's a PCI-E soundcard, instead of putting it in the bottom PCI-E port or the middle, or putting it in the very small PCI-E lane, i put it in the mazarine slot, very first PCI-E slot, and my G-Card in the second blue slot, i wondering if that has made any difference what so ever.

I've just installed SpeedFan to monitor GPU temp's and Ntune the downclock to memory by 50mhz, just to be a bit safe, haven't installed ATI Tool, don't intend to, going to give this a whirl, and see if i can play war's for more than 20 minute's, i do like the fact that Ntune is Nvidia CP imbedded like you said. i will report back after testing.
Cheer's Mort and Leo, some damn fine help ya'll are giving.

Update...
Played for several hour's this morning, War's ran like butter, no hiccup's the odd shader fluctuation, but that maybe game related, GPU temp is 87C(under load)56 idle with a 50mhz downlock, and i slightly downlclocked the core aswell, i think the initial problem, was rather Rivatuner, which i kinda doubt, but the main suspect, ATI tool's, because i know when i installed it, like you said the driver that get's installed and ask's for confirmation, i seriously think ATI tool's was the culprit.
EDIT: Bought this, i really hope it fit's.

Yup been looking at some Zalman cooling, even if say, this cooler doesn't fit, i can stil use the thermal pad's it come's with, because i noticed upon taking the HS of this card, that the white thermal pad's were almost falling off to the touch, i replaced the thermal grease, the compound was virtually solid, basically putty when removing it, put some fresh artic on, an she's idling around 54C, but i think i'll put these new pad's on regardless if the vga cooler work's.
Only lost £20 pound, but the fan is there, incase i buy like an emergency card like a 8800GT incase the new one i buy fuck's itself over.

after openning and cleaing the card i just threw them away coz they were all fooked up and they actually block heat transfer, so i simply added some silver compund and card is idling at 55-56c
i just removed useless and ultra noisy stock fan with that stupid plastic shit and added some low noise 12cm fan, at load it does not exceed 75c with crysis demo on high settings
i wanna meet the guy/girl who designed this freakin cooling solution and slap his face with my left foot
