I'm surprised that not even a console release is out yet, a mate has it already the legal way...

Why you think? RELOADED gave us NBA 2K9, which was steam only, too. So I would bet on RELOADED.

All of reloaded's recent releases haven't required them to 'figure' anything new out about the protection schemes. They just keep doing the same thing.

I completely agree. However, this is why you haven't seen Reloaded crack any games with newer versions of protection schemes. The biggest game they've released within the past year was Fallout 3 - But that doesn't even need a crack to run.

Quote: | The lads at Eurogamer are amongst the first out of the gates with its F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin R.E.V.I.E.W.
Multiplayer exists, featuring four modes and six maps, but I wasn't able to find any games pre-release to play, and there are no bots to just get a sense of the levels. Eurogamer will look at this area again following release if it proves to offer anything more than other shooters, but on the surface of it the most interesting aspect is the character set-up options. You have a set amount of points, and purchasing each weapon or equipment option costs a number of points. So if you buy the highly expensive sniper rifle you're not going to be able to afford fancy armour, let alone a handy helping of grenades.
Overall score was a shockingly low 5/10. |

no, it really sounds no different than the first one. Bitching about them not recapping the whole first game is retarded. I don't remember any of the resident evils doing that. I started playing X3 terrain conflict and it didn't recap the other games so I knew what was going on, etc. Their bitching about it is moot, if you want to know the story again...then play the fucking game again.

Eurogamer's review is a fluke, so far. Gamerankings average is currently over 80% across all three platforms.
Eurogamer's reviewer can have their opinion of course, and that's perfectly valid, but it's unusually low, so far.
Either way, it's stupid to base too much on professional reviewer's scores. We've all played the demo already, and what I played in that demo was definitely no 5/10!

The 5/10 comes out of the frustration the write has of the sheer mediocrity of the game, not because it is terrible. It does everything in an OK matter, but it's just too mediocre.
Did you guys actually read the review?
Quote: | In other words, I found the experience of playing the game to be simultaneously exhilarating and depressing. The smallest fundamental parts - such as the combat - work. But on a higher level, alienation grows as the game becomes a chain of well-worn genre standards. I found myself thinking the back-handed compliment, "Well, at least I haven't done a gun-turret bit yet." Then, predictably, one turned up. Every time I started a new level I ended up wondering whether this one would be the moving-platform-train-bit. Surely it would arrive eventually? And it did.
It's a checklist of genre-tropes, well performed. If you're just looking for more well-polished shooting, this will while away the hours pleasantly enough. If you've never played a first-person shooter before, you'll probably be in love - this is as archetypal a corridor-shooter as has ever been made, and there's a reason why it works. But for anyone who's been running down corridors with shotguns for most of their adult life, this is so uninspired that you worry for the spark of Monolith's soul. You guys made No One Lives Forever, remember? You're smart. You're better than this.
FEAR 2 isn't terrible. That's the most terrible thing of all. Is mere competency enough to garner gamers' love? I don't know. But it's the one thing I really do fear. |

What did they except them to do? Make it a huge open world like GTA? You don't have much choice in shooters. Either you make it like Crysis where everything is open, but has points you are forced to go into anyways. Make it like GTA where shit is so huge that you can't make every experiance the greatest. Or you make it like doom where you can control every aspect and make everything great.

read the review before picking on the score, he isn't really bashing the game, just ranting about lack of innovation.
anyway, who cares. haven't played a decent fps in a while and if the rest of the game is like the demo, it should serve for an excellent shooter fix.
just hope monolith moves on to another IP after this one, the whole FEAR scenario has been milked enough after 4 games.

I really wish monolith would just make AvP3.
That new Alien game coming out doesn't seem to good.

And you think they'd make AvP3 properly this day and age? It would suffer from the same sheer of mediocrity, err sorry, mainstream that FEAR suffers from now.

I doubt it. All they have to do is make AvP2 with updated graphics and i'm sold. AvP2 is/was allready an amazing game, and the amount that it would benefit from updated graphics/mechanics would be astounding.
Just like that black mesa source mod. All I want is the classic game with modern graphics.

Hey, I agree with you completely, but from their point, the game is just not "accessible" enough franchise. This is what happens nowadays. You can see it with DoW2, Homeworld 3, Deus Ex 3 and basically every sequel or remake these days.

so it's fear 1 with newer and fancier graphical effects. skippable, unless i run out of games before drakensang comes out.
it's prolly playable on the same level that quantum of solace was, you could always play it for an hour to make some time pass, but after a few of these short sessions, you'd decide to uninstall it and forget about it the next day.
