Shellshock 2 Blood Trails
About This Game
War is hell, and the ShellShock franchise delivers gamers to the deepest circles of this hell with the series' second brutal and twisted psychological first person shooter experience.
At the height of the Vietnam War, a covert ops cargo plane carrying a top-secret consignment known only as 'Whiteknight' is lost over the deepest, uncharted jungles. Special Ops soldiers are immediately dispatched to the scene to retrieve the top secret shipment and one-by-one they disappear without a trace ... until one month later, one of them suddenly walks out of the jungle. Crazed and deranged, something in the jungle had ripped out his humanity, poisoning his soul. Something in the darkness had driven him mad ... and followed him out. Taking the first-person war game and turning it on its head, Shellshock 2: Blood Trails places you in a war where fear takes on a whole new meaning.

pretty crappy in all honest truth.. You have to match flashing WASD symbols on screen, to get past certain parts, not quick enough or miss a letter in wrong sequence you die! Might be good enough for a little time waster.

Its actually half decent if you give it a chance. It lacks polish - that's the major problem with it. Im still enjoying it mind you.

agreed...the sniper elite game for is one of the greatest games i played on the pc:)
but...it is usualy like that, we have high expectations befor the game is out, and when it is out already - disapointment :/
remaind me the days that internet was only a dream and i used to buy games to my commodor 128 , and the only way to know some details about game was the art on the game cover lol..if the picture was impressive i took it and at home i found out the the picture on the cover is the best thing about the game:)

Seems odd to me too. Feels very similar to my mouse adapter for the Xbox360; perhaps the developer didn't bother to port it properly and just mapped the mouse to the gamepad controls.

I think devs could've done much better if they had a bigger budget (obv), the voice acting is pretty good and so are the sound effects, models are pretty detailed but the game falls short when it comes to atmosphere or level design, fails very much.

Yup, it has great potential but generally lacks polish. The sound effects are excellent and the makers of COD : WAW would do well to take note that a Colt 45 is not drowned out by the sound of trees swaying or birds singing.
It really is a shame that this game didnt have a bit more money and time behind it as it could have been a great game as opposed to a mediocre one.

Played the first mission and part of the second one.
Game is very slow paced and even when running or sprinting you aren't going that fast, atmosphere is usually dark and creepy but I never actually felt scared.
Even on higher difficulty levels you can take quite a bit of damage before dying and the same goes for most enemies aside from the usual headshot kills, most battles are pretty drawn out as you and the nearby enemies hide behind cover peeking out now and then to shoot at you, I never got the impression that they advance towards you though they move around a bit.
Game also has these quick time events were you need to press the WSAD (Movement) keys in a particular order and multiple times within a time limit, you're allowed to fail once but failing twice usually kills you directly and completing the event also lets you decide how to execute the enemy soldier whom you just bested. (Can be skipped at times by shooting the enemies before they have a chance to initiate their attacks that start the button pressing.)
Also pretty brutal and gory, shots to the face area will usually blow away chunks of it and there's a lot of blood and brutal events.
(Slashing throats, executions at point blank, numerous corpses and such things and that's just the first level.)
Story is a bit of a action/horror combination where the US army lost "White Knigth" somewhere in the jungles and sent troops to find it (Whatever it is.) only one soldier makes it back and the game starts in the area where he's being held and questioned but things to pretty bad as the VC forces raid the compound.
(There's a bit more to it but I'll avoid spoilers.)
Runs pretty good and looks OK but a bit slow/sluggish movements even for just turning around or trying to aim.
Oh and you can only carry one sidearm and one primary weapon with a limited amount of ammunition but there seems to be quite a few different arms to choose from such as the Tokarev or Colt 1911 for pistols or the M16 or AK-47 assault rifles and various standard rifles from what I've found so far, plus grenades.
Few images from the first level, bit dark as it's placed during the night.

(Everything set as high as possible, game lacks AA sampling but has AF filtering.)

What? You dont like WASD keys? I think those keys are the best for Quick Time Events in PC port. They are XYAB on xbox360 gamepad, WASD feels very similar
