Thats the colin series, they still dont use 4-point physics, even tough it's been the standard since Rally Championship etc. Nono, in colin the cars still use the 1990 way, the entire car rotates around its center point, with some limitations to make it appear more realistic like having the wheels use physics visually but not affecting the car, thats why.
It ruins the series, and i dont understand who's stupid idea it was to keep it that way, hell even Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 had 4-point physics (each wheels condition and position affects the car), why not a rally game? Stupid stupid.. Hell even Race Driver 1 and 2 has something really odd about their steering, codemasters have lost it.

Well said. Codemasters are IDIOTS...they've done everything great BUT the physics. It could be the best rally game ever if it used RBR physics.

the game is horrible... gfx, sounds, driving experience - big step back considering cmr4. I didn't like cmr4, so I hate 2005. waste of bandwidth in my case.

For the car setup problem
i suppose that : the CMR5.exe come from the polish version so the game crash when you use another language.
Sorry for my bad english !

fook i actually kinda like the game, but ONLY.... because i dont have my wheel nor my pedals here, only my keyboard, but i gotta say codemasters have done a great keyboard arcade rally game, altough im sure they wouldnt be happy to hear that but what the hell, its true.
-- Wow that game looks amazing Bob, the car swings back and forth like grandma, whats that!?
-- It's Colin 2005! It has state of the art physics and graphics and sound that does not at all crackle and sound really bad on my SB Live!!
-- In Colin 2005 you got to drive trough the entire career with all the very funny and no boring (f***in beetle f***er!111!!) cars at all to unlock the cars and tracks you wanna try out at first! It is really a smart great feature that is unsurpassed in todays racinggames!!
-- In Colin 2005, even a clutz like ME can be a rally driver! ;D

I actually tried to replace the language files with the ones from the demo. It's the same! Kinda strange that it happens with those ones too! How can they also be corrupted? Even from the demo?

Hi! Friends, you can fix the language texts problem by going to
C:\Program files\Codemothers\Colin McRae Rally 2005\data\Strings
and rename one from the Whole_*.Lng files,
Exemple:
you need French texts than remove and save the "Whole_E.Lng" File and rename the "Whole_F.Lng" to "Whole_E.Lng" launch the game text are french
For German rename "Whole_G.Lng" to "Whole_E.Lng"
For Italian rename "Whole_I.Lng" to "Whole_E.Lng"
For Svedish rename "Whole_S.Lng" to "Whole_E.Lng"
Change codriver language in game option menu.
But this will not fix the car setup problem.
hope this can help someone in atemp to Ultima make a FIX.

i have the car setup fix ! it is on newsgroups !
you can also download it at this url :
http://img32.exs.cx/img32/9946/wholee8ho.jpg
right click on the link and choose "save target as" and rename the file to
Whole_E.Lng and save it in your Colin McRae Rally 2005\data\Strings folder and click yes to overwrite the file.

Hi! jone68 Don't install polish patch if you don't anderstand polish! to return to a normal ?multilanguage? game with car setup crash you must uninstall the polish addon patch, uninstall the game and make a new installation. after just rename text files and play in your language, in atemp for the car setup fix don't setup the car's and play, have fun, good look from france.
