I used to have a 300Watts (I think it was 300Watts) Technics National Amp with Technics speakers that was only 200Watts...
When I used to listen to only 1 or 1.5 on the Volume there was so much Bass it would vibrate up 4 flats and the entire place would vibrate... You would lose your breath when a bass drum played in any song...
That was many years ago...
Now I have a 700 Watt (Technics) with 300Watts speakers (Proson) and the sound is so much shitier than the older system... I know its the 300Watt speakers suck so I wanted to buy newer speakers that vibrate the hell out of everything only on 1 (volume on Amp that is)...
So I go with a friend to a shop and test their speakers... Speakers that cost over 5 thousand dollars a pair and STILL shit sound...
I go to another place and try Disco speakers that are 30Inch speakers (Bass) and still get total crappy sound...
I want LOW Volume but want to feel the vibration like the cheap Technics Speakers I bought before...
Why the hell is the sound soooo crappy on all the speakers Ive tried ???
Anyone have any Technics Speakers ???
The guy selling talked about Alpha and Omega sounds and crap like that... No clue what thats about, but I know its the Amp thats the main thing and the speakers are to push out the power, or sound...
speakers aren't crappy by default just because they don't get the floor shaking and you can't put a candle out with the horn. what matters is the right combination of amplifier and speakers, as well as the diameter of the bass speaker (and bigger isn't always better, depending on your bass "taste").
or get a subwoofer and play around with the settings. for example, i've got a m-audio subwoofer (active): standard settings are fine, but when i flip the +10db boost gain switch, 5 minutes later i've got at least 3 neighbours knocking on my door
Your old amplifier probably did a good job with one part of the audiospectrum (the lower part), I used to have a Yamaha-amp (from the 80'ies) that I thought were a lot more awesome initially than my current Zeberg equipment, but then I started to really compare them and notice how much of a blur many other registers in the high/mid-range were.
So what you need to think about is audio clarity and such, if you want more oomph in the lower range, use your equalizer (or possibly get a pre-amp).
Been reading all day about speakers and such and think that the Amp and Speakers loved each other...
I mean they were on the same "impedance" or same frequency which made the super sound and vibrations...
Shit, this means I have to carry my Amp to the store and try some speakers...he he...
Yeh, Im still looking for the 2 x 350Watts Amp from Technics...
