Hi,
today i received my new EP45-DS3 Gigabyte motherboard,i'm really happy with it,i managed to overclock my Q6600 to 3.3mhz,but what i noticed is the motherboard temp idles at 44c & goes to 55c playing GRID ,it's winter now so i can imagine the temp will go much highier in the summer,my pc case is coolermaster CM690 & i have 7 x 120mm case fans installed.
is these temps normal ? is there anything i can do to improve MB temp ?
yeah i have done some google searching & found out the same thing (upto 65c is safe),i was just going to change the position of the heatsink so i can fit 40mm fan underneath it on top the NB heatsink but since the temp is still within the safe zone i wont bother just yet. thanks for the reply.
The parts in that computer are not worth more than 2500 at best. Wonder what the resale value on one of those things is. And good luck trying to upgrade it in two years time when a qx9650 is as fast as a pentium4 is today.
It could possibly be a sensor error, misreporting the temp. Although my EP45-DS5's also gives a high VRM temperature reading, reporting 54c idle and reaches a maximum of 57c after a good few hours gaming.
But individually, component temperatures are for Q6600 using Arctic Cooler 7, idle temp is around 30c rising to 48c under load and my 4870 a constant 68c. Other than for the reported motherboard temp, the rest are respectable temperatures imo.
