I was planning on getting play and charge kit but as usual official MS addons are very expensive.

Then I thought why not just get 4x rechargeable AA batteriers + charger kit. It's cheaper and no need to mess with wires ever. But I noticed that all AA size rechargeable batteries are 1.2v, while controller requires 1.5v.

Anyone here use rechargeable AAs in their controllers, does it work fine, how long do they last?

They work fine. I wondered about this a while a go too and found out nimh (or whatever) batteries keep at 1.2 till they run flat, but normal non-rechargeble batteries lose voltage as they drain, thus making the average voltage of the battery during it's use around 1.2v. So devices are made to cope with the voltage drop and will run fine from 1.0v to 1.5v times however many batteries . something like that anyway.

on the back it writes this controller needs 5v ==450mA (with rubble)
normal batteries are like 1,5v this makes 3v to power this hungry controller

play&charge has this perks :
1. you don't need a batteries...

2.you can turn your wireless controller to a wired one when your battery pack is busted , just plug the cable and play like a wired one

3.it recharges when you play (30 min to a full recharge) or when your box is off (2-5 min to a full recharge) , you can even recharge it on your PC ... its USB DUH or plug it into your PC and play the x360 ... its crazy Laughing

4.this cable has two leds a red one and a green one - red it charging , green your ready to plug off the cable , no light from the led means battery pack is busted (you can repair it easily with a few tricks) or you play with the cable

Rechargeable AAs :
1. lasts for 4h-6h max , had this no name blue ni-mh that my old cellphone used

2. recharge time is 4 - 6 min max

Just got this. Looks like quality stuff, batteries are made in Japan unlike most of similar products where they pack shitty ones made in China.
