It gets pretty fun when you actualy get better at multi, and finding an actual worthy opponent is an accomplishment as well Laughing

Dawn of War 2 works perfectly online if you use a GFWL key. Fuck Steam bullshit.

as long as someone keeps sending you files patched by steam anytime patch comes out...

So I finally played a couple skirmishes and the sp..and my god..what the heck did they do to this.. I know everyone was complaining about it before..but I didn't realize it was going to be this bad. was this even made by the same guys?

yes.
Made by same guys.
they wanted to try something different.
Personally, i like it.
If you'd listen to the interviews as to why they got rid of base building, I can see what the thinking was behind it. i am enjoying the game myself. I am glad someone had balls enough to try something new in some way and ihope the game doesn't flop. i want to see expansions and stuff for it.

I like the SP too, very much, buy wish they could put the old MP as well. Sad Just too bleh on MP/skirmishes. But the campaign and managing of heroes is fantastic.

I am hoping we can see some different multi-player type games through patches and expansions. I see no reason why they couldn't include some sort of base building with an expansion at some point.

Well that page is a fucking maze (aka geek page) , i dont have the strenght to find it there. Dont you have a direct link instead, or is it against som rule to post it or whats the deal?

And yes, someone should make a step by step tutorial for this game. I have done this for years and even i have problems with this shit...

It would be so much easier if someone just sorted out the importan info from the crap in threads like this. Make a wiki-page is a good idea!

It's not hard, sign up on the Steam Underground forums and go to releases. Takes five minutes, if that even.

Babelfish isnt exaclty easy to use when you want to do something more that read on a page. The forum is all fucked up... But yea im sure i could find it but im lazy :/

No idea what the fuck you're talking about. It says Steam Underground in english, and then the forums are in english too.

Well, don't know if base-building will fit with the current gameplay model... Units require so much micromanaging, I couldn't find time for base building anyway. Razz

The campaign is great. And base-building would not fit at all into the campaign. You're supposed to be a handful of mankinds best, against hundreds of xenos. You're supposed to have the feeling of being outmanned.

PvP though, base-building could definately work, as long as it doesn't take too long to build one.

PVP was what I was thinking.

One thing though, the Coop idea is fantastic. . . it just stinks to hell that the only person that gets any exp from it is the host.
That needs to swing both ways I think.

Well, nice, two good players could mean much better results, because managing 4 squads is tough at times, especially at missions where cover is of utmost importance.

In coop, does each player get to manage their own squads? Like if I have FC and Tarkus, my friend has Avitus and Cyrus, does he get to equip them with wargear, and assign attribute points and such? Or is it all handled by the host?

Company of Heroes has the best mix of unit control and base building ever, DOW2 dosn't even come close, and the first half dozen single player campaigns are just dull, really noobie and dull.

I don't know maybe I'm getting a bit jaded... now COH with DOW2 units and you would be cooking on gas.

So if I run Vitality I understand it's 1.0 instead of 1.1 but from what I can tell it's just like 3 mp maps and a few balancing issues,, is that about the only diff?

I don't think you can even complete the game without a 0day patch and a hotfix.

That's fine. But don't call it a sequel when its nothing like the original. The original wasn't a perfect translation of the actual 40K mechanics, but it was far closer than this.
4 person squads? Yet you can reinforce?
squads that can't have sergeants?
only a couple vehicles? far less options on the dreadnoughts?
I would have expected improvements not scaling back.
Still no landspeeders or bikes?
no chaplain or librarian?
the unit stuff is completely butchered.
They could have called this Warhammer 40k:Squad tactics, or something else.

couldn't agree more, just feels crippled, I was expecting so much more. It dosn't offer much more than Squad Command on the PSP at least there was a more strategic approach with that game. Anyone who's played it through will know exactly what I mean.

Sorry I really feel relic have dropped the ball with this one. Really should of stuck with pushing Company of Heroes style gameplay.

The only bright side of this game for me is that I hope Relic will make Company of Heroes 2 with this new engine. DOW 2 sucks for single player.

man this game (SP part of it anyways) is dull and boring. Don't get me wrong, unit wise and stuff its fine, i guess, but playing the same little map over and over and over ... again ... wtf ? couldn't they at least have made the effort to mix it up a bit more ? There are like 2-3 maps top per planet, and (at least as far as i've seen) you can have dozens over dozens of missions on each (albeit side missions i guess, but still) and its not even fun anymore ... really not.

gonna try some of the other games out i guess :/

Well, don't know what you mean by "same map," because every mission I've played has had a different layout. If you mean the same "look" because it is using the same assets, then sure, but that is understandable, given they take place on nearby locations. Smile

You often must revisit same locations (maps that is), other than that there is about 15 maps overall for single, and about 60 missions, so do the math.
