|
 |
I just bought a GTX 280.
I plugged it on my PCI-E port, put the 6-pin and 8-pin power cable, and when I start my computer, I have no signal nor "beep".
What is it?

Sounds like a problem with the motherboard. Whenever I heard this, it has turned out to be the motherboard touching somewhere and short circuiting.

I tried to power my MB with my extra 550W PSU, while the 620 one was ONLY powering the GPU.
Same problem...

If you have the physical and mental strength, do the following: Take the motherboard with everything on it out of the case and power the PC like that (put it on a news paper or something).

Does another card work on this configuration ?
Does the card work on another PC ?

Does the card power up ? Does its fan work ?

i have had issues like this sometimes it was related to my overclocking i needed to up some volts & increase the pci express mhz to about 115-118 (on my old mobo) for my hd 4850 to work.try increasing the volts on the chip which controls your pci express slot.also do as vgadeadcafe said & update your bios first before anything.

If you have an onboard gpu, disable it. Samething happened when I put my 4870 in.
i got "No Signal". Disabled the onboard gpu and it worked fine.
