Cyrus (the scout) only starts to shine on the Primarch difficulty - provides increased sight range for plasma cannon, can instantly revive, use abilities while cloaked, one shot kill eldar platforms and 'nid synapse creatures etc. On anything below primarch you don't really need him - just tank everyone with maxed out commander and Thadeus Sad

Just completed the first 2 levvels. Is there a way to chain/link the Force Commander with one of my squads ? Like in Company of Heroes ?

It's too tiresome to move 4 separate units around. Or do I have to group them and use that hotkey to move them together ?

No, I mean I'd like my force commander to be linked with one of the squads, so they move together as one unit. (like in company of heroes)

You can group the Force Commander with other squads (you can't assign him), but it would be very unwise. The Force Commander is a melee unit while most others are not, so if he stays far, he can't do much damage or if they go into melee, the other squad(s) will suffer greatly and die quickly. Also, each squad has different role. This is how I used to play: Put the devastators on green cover, let them support from behind. Teleport the Force Commander in the middle of the enemies, have him do his magic, while the Terminators stomp enemies (they are also great melee attackers) and the regular squad shoot and throw some grenades from fair distance. But now, with Terminator armor and flamethrower, the Dreadnought and some huge Warhammer (Wink) I can finally just spam the damn Tyranids without dieing too much. Laughing

im using force commander (duh), tactical marines, devastators and scout. deadly. I found the assault marines to be rather obselete (since the commander out damages and out tanks them anyway). The devastators are great in dealing out massive amounts of damage and the scout, well, did i already mention how much i love him ? ^^. The tactical marines have a flamethower now an i like them because they have plenty of accessoiry slots.

oh and the dreadnought , aweful unit. Doesnt reg health and dies too quickly (cant be arsed to take the repair kit instead of something actually useful ).

Well, I am now advancing my Dreadnought, to a level that supposedly can heal itself and provide significant cover for everyone else. We'll see. Very Happy I just love all the gory stuff it does with enemies. Laughing

FUCK STEAM/THQ!!1

I try to buy Dawn of War 2, because I enjoy it very much and think it is worth the money, right? WRONG! Well, lo and behold, no price on steampowered.com. Apparently, they don't consider Israel as worthy of purchasing their games. Fine, will have fun for free. Rolling Eyes

In Russia if there is no price for a game on STEAM, it is usually the sign of some local publisher have signed an agreement for exclusive distribution rights. For example, F.E.A.R. 2 is such a title here. Maybe it is the same thing with DoW 2 in Israel ?

Do they like send you the serial first or do you have to wait for the package?

I'm from Asia, and I used to order games from play-asia, but it'd take forever for my order to get through customs.

It's probably to fix the problems with high and ultra settings, when you're on Vista x64 IIRC.

Cyrus is definately the second best unit for defense missions (Avitus being the best, obvously). His remote detonation charges can take out anything with one blast, from 5 squads of infantry, to walkers.

What I usually do when going up against large groups of enemies, is I send in Cyrus while infiltrated (He's got all the traits for infiltration, so he can stay infiltrated for minutes) and use high-powered shot on their synapse broods, weapon platforms etc. Then, I send Avitus to some cover while sprinting, so he can instantly get some suppression on the enemy. Then, I send in Tarkus behind some cover, throw a grenade, wait for them to group up again, then jump in my Commander. So they'll be without heavy weapons, suppressed, and damaged by the time my Commander gets there and tears them apart with his Thunder Hammer.

Vista 32bit you mean?

Code:
Improved memory heap management to reduce 'out-of-memory' crashes that were plaguing certain systems, including 32-Bit Vista on High and Ultra settings. Often reported as 'error 183 failed to create to create dump'

iNatan be aware that even if you buy the game you still have to authenticate the game via Steam and if the title is not available in your region or country then you won't pass this stage as it'll show a error message stating that the game is not available in this region so you won't be able to play.

EDIT: Heh, nearly every single file updated so far was updated in this latest patch, did a full repack and will post it as soon as it's uploaded.
(Just check the filedate to see just how much that was updated.)

Idd was just doing the same here, but seems you beat me to it.

Patch number is now 1.1.2

Want to thank you for your first patches as well.

NB: Seems the latest patch also included a change to the Content.bin (this could be cause mine was modified) and Content.cat (but this file i didn't touch) wonder if they fixed the security hole in getting the Wargear for nothing as well.. Will check it out in a bit and see if the hack still works.

Update: If you use the Wargear hack and own the retail, you will need to copy the Content.bin file back to the folder after Steam does its update. The hack still works fine.

Steam ONLY checks regions on the purchase screen that is it. You can gift games out of region no problem. Since I moved out of region and still only have a Canadian credit card and paypal, steam denies any purchase for being out of region. But I can remote desktop to a family's machine with steam, and gift me a game from their account to mine using my CC no problem. Even for games out of region in Korea. Unless this is something they've changed for Dawn of war.

No they probably haven't changed the system so it's probably as you say, though from what I've read there's been problems with purchased Steam titles in "restricted" countries but perhaps that's been mainly for the actual purchasing of games and not any other ways of getting titles such as entering the serial directly or gifting and such.

i ran into 1 "fatal scar error" on some (optional) mission. I simply ignored the mission and went to another sector, did some missions there. Now the (again, optional) mission is replaced with a campaign mission. So if you have that issue, too, just do what i did.

On another note, anyone else loves Cyrus as much as i do ? he kills like 1/2 the Enemy forces using stealth and remote detonators/satchel charges ^^ Its really imba tho, he stays undetected even when planting a bomb next to a whole group of enemies ^^.

There are no other missions. That's why I'm stuck Very Happy
