HDD, yes.

DVD drive, yes/no.

The hard-drive is portable, so you can plug it into any machine. The DVD is, unfortunately, not portable and it has a key stored in the ROM which is matched only to YOUR specific motherboard. To install the drive onto another 360, you'll need to perform a few extra steps (really shouldn't be that much a problem considering you've already flashed the drive)

It involves a process known as "spoofing" -- the thing is, I can only find guides on swapping the drive for another on the SAME machine. You're trying to KEEP the drive and put it in ANOTHER machine. I don't know enough about it to be able to help, but this is the guide for spoofing keys;

http://www.ehow.com/how_2245935_xbox-dvd-drive-replacement-drive.html

(bottom line; it *should* be possible, I just don't know how to do it myself)

You get to keep it. As far as I know, when you re-launch the DLC it authorizes itself via Live, even on a new machine. However you will need a License Tool if you plan to use the Xbox offline with the new content, as the DLC requires Live and the same Gamertag used to purchase it if you move to another machine.

Here's some proper info that should explain it properly;

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/licensemigration/faq.htm

Quote:

The license transfer tool on Xbox.com lets you consolidate all of your downloaded content licenses to one console. For example, if you downloaded items from Xbox LIVEĀ® Marketplace on one console, then purchased another console later on and downloaded more content to the new one, your content would be licensed to two consoles. This tool lets you download your older content licenses to your new console.

first of all thx for your post about the screw adjustments - that did it for me. when i first did the x-clamp fix, the screws were simply too tight and instead of the "old" 0102 error i got 0020, then i loosened them up a bit and suddenly the rrod went away, played through halo wars yesterday 10 hours straight without a hitch

but you should consider putting nylon washers in between. here's some shitty layer "diagram" how i did it (viewed fom the side, top to bottom):
--- cooler metal thingy
--- nylon washer
--- mainboard
--- nylon washer
--- metal washer
--- screw

btw, did you let the xbox overheat after putting in the screws rather loose (just tightened with fingers) and THEN tightening them up with a screwdriver (only minimal exertion of force)? that's the critical point when doing the x-clamp imho.

oh and do the rubber/penny fix too.

don't know if this all helps, maybe yours is also fubar - but considering the low cost and work investment it should be worth a try Wink

i just used standard M5 (5 or 5,3mm) washers. if you can't find them, you could also use ~1mm thick cardboard an make some yourself
