Someone at the TWCenter forums mentioned 15gb for full game, which is probably more than a little exaggeration, but the earlier TW games haven't exactly been small, either.

Yeah I looked into it and apparently the real content is close to 9gb, I guess we'll see if theres any updates on steam. Or perhaps Ragtag can clarify the file names and sizes.

Epsilon, will you be willing to share updated for the game as they become available on Steam? At least until I can buy the game (have a games queue Razz)? If so, I will make a guide for people like I did with DoW2, because this already smells complicated with all these codes... Razz

Updates?, I don't see why not.

Well, because it would mean having to find out what has changed from version to version (or from latest to release) and uploading. It is a bit of a hassle if you are busy. Smile

The main issue or rather the thing that takes the most time with Steam updates is if you decide to add the updated files for other languages as it'll redownload all the localized content, for the rest you usually only have to sort the files by date and you'll easily notice which files have been altered. Smile

15GB eh, big game. Smile
(Voice perhaps, someone said each country speaks it's native language for units and such.)

That might be it, the localization is "only" 300mb per country, of which theres; "english, french, german, italian, czech, polish, russian and spanish".

Haha well lets focus on English Razz But yeah, I can see why people would prefer play this game in their native language.

Size is probably due to accents? Don't believe they will make factions speak in their own languages, but accent sound like something to do.

Did you run all the commands on the second disc?
try and run all of them on disc one and extract them to for instance C:\etw1 and then with disc 2 c:\etw2 then when that is done combine the libraries in c:\etw

When i ran the commands the first time it automatically asked for the dvd2 files. So i copied over the files from the dvd and continued. I tried running just the EXE command from borth disc 1 and 2 but no go... i'll try the last suggestion but it will ask for dvd 2 files during the unpacking.

Heres the commands. I edited the bat file from FEAR 2 to make it easier:

@echo off
set SRC="l:\temp\test\Empire Total War_disk1.sim"
set DST="f:\empire"
SimPack x %SRC% %DST% -g10501 -k6143EE9F1CFDF68B0C2A34DB27A0CD6C
SimPack x %SRC% %DST% -g10502 -k71C5FB913C50FD952C1DA96E864A66DF
SimPack x %SRC% %DST% -g10503 -k7EE90DE0D74AAFE400727B6C090FB2FC
SimPack x %SRC% %DST% -g10504 -k287B940DC26A6357B5460A9305D2733E

Well the exe archive is on steam, so maybe they didn't include it on the dvd. If you can find someone who bought it on steam and knows how to "work" with it you can get the exe archive.
Right now the exe is all that is on steam, not all the data :/

Yeah, that's what i thought when i noticed no exe. Means no one gets the exe before 3rd march when they start unlocking.

Looks like the learned from F.E.A.R 2 Razz

As I said, get someone who bought it on steam and they can download the executable for you in an ncf archive.

Well it's possible, looking at the Fallout 3 content is only 2.14gb and as far as I remember that was quite a big installation.

Have you tried viewing the files to see what's in there?

It's "simpack v -gXXXX" where XXXX is the ID of the application you're trying to extract followed by the SIM file name. Smile

Should be able to see if the EXE is in there.

No no no, the "units in nations speak their native languages" refers to the battles, where if you zoom in on the units they will say like "March!" or "We're under attack!" in their native language.
So British units will speak english, Swedish units will speak swedish, etc.

I dont think that has anything to do with what language you installed the game as a whole.

Answered in pm.

EDIT:
As reported by Wicked666 the method previously known, no longer works. So even if you have the game legit on steam, theres no way of getting the data or exe that way.
