mister_s, the games seems to be using both cores here.
chars that you get early on:
Spoiler: | amazon, thief, dwarf |
i'd say give someone the treat wounds talent instead of waiting.
the_stranger, you learn(buy) new skills from various trainers.

And does anything happen when I level up? So far the only thing I have seen happen when levelling up, is the removal of the caps on skills..
And just so I did not miss anything, do you get that dwarf in the first village, or later in the town of Ferros?

The level is important, if you don't have a high enough level your skills will be limited. It's just like any other RPG, but now you can level whenever you like. I really like the system. You can think and observe the skills you use, and then spend points on it.

I'll post what I posted previously, taken from a discussion about the German version.
Quote: |
Mask of the Master - IM3Z91
To get the "Mask of the Master" ('Maske des Meisters', +2 CH) speak to 'Erna Rübenfein' in Avestreu (before you go into Ferdock, next to the soliders at the bridge) and enter one of the following codes:
3EXD6L
44SC2K
4X1W68
6LAM24
74ZUA1
84JDE9
9PQ1WC
9YF3LC
EFG65K
F4B7AY
F5ZHV7
G97LG1
H6V8WS
IM3Z91
J7FB8T
JK28AX
LK8J4X
MP97FR
N4DEL5
NB3DY6
P38FVQ
PY66M4
RBV38S
S35DF9
S3RBD1
T6FM9Q
TW5BCW
U8IS57
YAPL39
Z75MRG
Any of the codes should work, but it is confirmed that some of them are locked to a certain version of the game (such as pre-order, collector's edition, Amazon's pre-order edition). To save you time trying to find a correct code for your edition just open the file Drakensang\export\db\static.db4 with an editor and search for "keyword=".
|
The "- IM3Z91" line was added by me as it's what the code is for my game.

Have some questions if anyone can answer please:
1. Is it important for your main character to have social skills? Or does the game use social skills from your companions when talking to someone, if their skills are higher?
2. Can all characters train in skills like armor type I/II/III or dodge, etc? Or is this restricted to only some characters?
3. I have random pauses/freezes of the game like every 30 seconds - 1 min. The freezes occur for about 2-3 seconds. The game runs very smooth otherwise, but the freezes pauses really really getting annoying. Even when I am not moving (or just standing and fighting) I get these freezes. Anyone get this or know why?

Yea I love it as well, it's not easy to learn but when you do you notice that its quite good. I also like that first levels of each skill are quite cheap so you can 'try' a skill first to see if you like it and then decide if its worth having.

I tried everything with the freezes/pauses. I have latest catalyst drivers, tried all settings, etc.
What about the type of armor that characters can wear? Are there restrictions? Can a battlemage wear chainmail for example?
Thanks

You can put chainmail on him, he will get encumbrance penalties that can be lowered by armour use skills. But you'll need mage with strength of above 12 to learn it.

This game is one in a million, I really URGE people to dig deep and buy the retail if they want games that offer actual in-depth GAMEPLAY along with a fantastic plot.
same goes for:
Star Ocean The Last Hope
DCS KA-50 The Black Shark
