Most annoying quest ever created, almost made me quit playing.

I liked the begining of the game but the more i got into it the worse it became, the combat system works, but what doesn't work is the super boring quests and getting spammed by the same type of enemies..

I think that level is meant to be hard. Developers wanted to 'screw' player with that classical quest of simple rats in basement.

It starts as always. Simple beginners quest of killing couple of rats, then (surprise!) its another level...
and another level...
and rats become stronger and stronger...
and they kick your but so you must go out and try it when you get stronger...

...and then you gain experience by killing some hard tough villains, get some mighty and powerful weapons, got armoured so much you hardly walk and then you go back to wreck vengeance on those rats... and then they kick your but again. Laughing

I really CBA waiting two weeks to get back to Norway before I can play this, so can anyone tell me what sort of sysreqs are REALISTICALLY required for the game? (Please don't tell me to go to CanYouRunIt, because last time I checked the game wasn't on there -- and the "official" sysreqs are usually about as accurate as Valve's release dates Rolling Eyes)

I'm using my mum's PC at the moment (my old-old kit) which is AthlonX2 4800 @ 3Ghz, 2GB DDR2 and a 7600GT. I can nab a 7900GTO from my other PC at the weekend, so no doubt that'll help.

Urh, anyway to change or even disable the player character combat sounds? The devs must've made an error or something, because I swear he sounds like a goblin or something. Very Happy

Is there a way to bash the locks to open chests? I don't have lock picking and there seems to be awfully many locked chests out there.

Nope, no possibility. Don't you have a thief in your party? That's pretty much a must.

Not yet, just amazon so far. Too bad really, because I doubt I'll remember all the chests I missed once I do find a thief Smile

Are there any male versions of the "female only" armor pieces? Huge design flaw if there isn't, since it only limits the options for male characters (and especially since gender doesn't seem to have any other effect in-game).

Where do you find a thief? I just started and picked up the amazon. In the bear cave there are lots of chests but I can't open any of them.

My main character is a battlemage but I don't have any unlock spell.

Is there a thief in the starting area or ?

in ugdan harbor, just go along the water, you'll find him next to a ship, flailing his arms around like the salesman from monkey island Smile

sabin, i ran the german version with a 6600gt (w/o the hi-res texture pack) and it ran fine (on medium, iirc)

I posted this at the official board, il paste it in here also!

Im at lvl 8-9 with my party now. And it seem like there is way to much XP in the game.

I mean my main char can easy maximise (or at least 15+) 4 (probably even up to 8-9 ) talents + Be Very skilled in one weapon skill + Have 6-7 different attackmoves + passive abilities.

And i have even used some points (2or3) to increase stats witch cost alot. And a few points on Vitality.

It just feels like o should be this good at the end of the game, but i think im only in the begining or middle? Im gonna start the third Dragon Quest.

One way of solving this would be to add a few different difficulty settings. The setting you choose change the amount of XP given in general, and maybe increasing the cost of talents & skills.

Easy = 125% Normal = 100% Dificul = 75% Hard = 50% Something like that.

And Also spells and attack-skills should cost ALOT more than 1-3(?)D. I would like to see 10-30 D for a skill, and little bit less for spells maybe 5-15D or something like that.

It feels like the whole point of this complex and otherwise very nice ruleset is wasted when you realise that you can be good at so much.

A farthing for your thoughts...

Max level seems to be 20 from what I've read in the game files so you'll probably be very powerful towards the end of the game with the amount of "points" you get, skills and such seem to crash the game if you go above 25 from what I've read though you probably can't get that high normally so perhaps it'll balance itself out and the cost of increasing skills do increase pretty drastically after a few points though abilities as you say doesn't cost all that much to learn aside from special attacks and certain spells.

Could probably be tweaked via editing a few files but I've no idea what the values and names of those parameters are plus it would probably be difficult to get it properly balanced as I guess there's a few values that needs to be adjusted.
(XP points and how fast you level, cost of skills and learning talents and so on.)

It's very easy to level up at the beginning, since talents don't cost too much at the lower levels. I'm also guessing you haven't spent many points for attributes, if you spend points on those you certainly won't be able to be a master in everything.
