Hi, I install HL2 vengence CD version and when i try to run the hl2install.exe on the CD5 it doenst install... so i cant crack the game.... didnt found a way to run the game... your help would be very appreciated. thx in advance! Confused

Hmm....You did not see a Command Prompt window popup? As for running the game use the shortcuts that were created on your desktop.

The only thing i see when i run install.exe from CD5 is a command prompt for about 1 sec... and when i run HL2 theres always that steam asking me to login...

Are you trying to do an online or offline install? You will not need a Steam account but if your doing the online install then you need to upgrade the Steam Client. Just follow the .nfo file. If you need addtional instructions look at the HL2 Vengeance Upgrade .nfo where they describe things in more detail. Here is the link:

Same problem here, but I am not online and used the CD Version Upgrade that's supposed to take care of offline installation. I also clicked on reg file for offline but it still doesn't work...

Any ideas?

I dunno if it is the same...
I've got system desktop folder moved rom "documents and settings\etc" to another partition.
When installer makes proper shortcut to hl2, it is placed in orginal desktop location (documents and settings\user\destop).

If you didn't move you destop dir, it prolly won't help. :/

I don't have internet connection and haven't played around with my desktop settings...

What does patch version 7 do?

My friend got the same problem. He used my DVD and i even installed it myself on his PC. Everyting seems to be there exept in my **\Valve\Steam\SteamApps i have a folder named User that he doesnt have. I think its Vengeance patch who install this.

So when i run the patch, the "DOS" window prompt for less then a second and i cant read what it says so the it cant be patch and the game doesnt work at all.

I send him my "User" folder (31mb) and send him my desktop shortcut with the proper informations in it but the game still doesnt work. before i send him my "User" folder he didnt have the hl2.exe but now that he have it, it says: "SteamStartup() Failed: Failed to open GCF achives: "$s", make sure its available and decrypted"

When the game is done with the installation you need to let STEAM getting updated (works that way flawlessly on all my machines) but on his computer it stop updating at 27%. So when i try to log in back to STEAM to get it update it says it can do nothing since it is on offline mode...i never set it to offline mode.

I hope i put it as clear as possible Very Happy
