I had my liteon modded by someone else. He sent me my Key in a EMail. I know he had to do minor soldering to flash it or to extract the key. If I want to flash it to 1.6 will it need soldered again or was that just a one time thing to extract the key?

It's not even necessary to solder the liteon. It seems to me that your guy who flashed it is using some defunct method to extract the key.

It WAS necessary to solder, back when the first tools came out for the LiteOn. It's not necessary anymore, but it used to be in order to dump the drivekey.
@Digitalman
To answer your question mate; Nope! Your drive is now flashable, so hook it up to the PC, use the latest flashing tools and you're away! A while back, on release, the drive was a livining BITCH to flash - but now, with the new tools, and even considering your drive is ALREADY flashed, it's considerably easier.

I bought a preflashed console with liteon few weeks back and now this bullcrap happened. A fine example where trying to be overprotective is a bad thing. I rather be able to boot any fucked up burned iso and risk of getting banned than have to flash it again. Meh.
So how do I proceed? Will I need special hardware to upgrade iX 1.6? Or maybe it's better to let a pro flasher do it?

To my knowledge, if the chip is already flashed.. then you won't need any extra hardware. However... my knowledge is limited as I've not worked with the LiteOn drive, only BenQ and Samsung.

If you have the key.bin inquiry.bin and the identity.bin you don't need any extra hardware to upgrade. Just fire up jungleflasher and you are ready to go.

c4eva said that with the new jungleflasher (which is going to be released soon) if you have a liteon with ixtreme you can extract the firmware via sata without using any other tools!

And you can just flash directly with any other drive .. without needint to dump the key first. The new JF tool automatically reads the key from the existing iXtreme firmware.
