ok got some real progress !
i reinstalled into same folder as before (cracked files already placed etc) and let it install complet (with pointing to sid_2 etc as said above) , only this time, i didnt re-applied the cracked content and started game, and well, wouldnt you know it, i can now continue the RTI campaign .. (so basicly only file remaining from rzr is the crack). Gonna continue to see of there are any triggers etc. Will keep you updated.
Sin out.

I don't think pointing the installer to disk2_2.sid does anything at all. I tried an install with and without that trick and the gamefolder ended up having the exact same size and number of files as before.

What about the sounds? Do they work properly without using the demo soundfile?

no, still have to use the demo3.pack, but that really isnt a big issue imho
btw for those saying pointing to _2.sid etc isn't doing shit, well, i disagree.
the installation will ask 4 times for a sid file of dvd2, 0,1,1,1
now if you point the third one to _2, and then forth to _1, it will end with an error (wrong disc blabla) but if you point to _2 both times (3rd,4th) the installer will finish and exit "w/o hiccups". Also there is at least 1 difference in files, as mentioned, the "language.txt" in my install is now 16mb, up from 1 kb !
anyway, guide for dummies :
1. Make a folder you want etw be installed to (if you havent already installed
2. Copy cracked content into hat empty folder (if already installed and have already, skip, or re-copy, whatever, aslong as the cracked files have been moved at least once lol)
3. Install into that folder. When asked to point to sid files, do as asked for dvd1, for dvd2 , point to _0,_1,_2,_2 in that order.
4. replace the sounds_sfx.pack with the demo3_pack from demo (rename it to sounds_sfx.pack, backup original if you want)
5. play !
-----
disclaimer : this will let you play the RTI campaign, at least so far for me. I DONT KNOW IF IT WILL WORK TILL THE END OR NOT. I also don't know (yet) if there are hidden triggers etc. I'll find out soon enough i guess.

The sound issue is still a huge one. Even if you don't care about the quality of the demo pack sounds, it'll almost certainly lack all the retail-only ones.
This is one of the few games I'd actually buy if I could, but at the moment I can't afford paying over 100 bucks for it. Shipping costs might double the price, in addition, and I refuse to use Steaming pile of shit.

Could you open your 16mb language.txt file and look whats in there, or post a screenshot with it opened? Even after installing with pointing to the sid files as mentioned in your post mine only got the letters "EN" in it so im wondering what the hell is in yours, which is 16mb.

The larger language.txt file is full of non-readable content.

I can throw up the retail sounds_sfx.pack on one of the public trackers when I'm home (and if people want, ofcourse). it's from a legit copy too.

as mentioned, its a lot of unreadable garbage
i dunno if it has anything to do with the game (RTI) working now or not, but alas it works so i wont complain or touch it.
a little check tho, for someone with the retail game, is it normal that you get a SHITLOAD of tax revenus in the RTI campaign (im at chapter 2 i think with the french forts n stuff).

At least in RtI that indeed seems to be the case, yes. I got bucketloads too.

I confirm that the RtI campaign works with the afford mentioned fix.
If requested I'll post a screen as proof.
*Still going to buy the game tho.

So, does that mean the razor release is worth downloading now, since the RtI campaign and sound issues have been bypassed?

That looks like the demo sounds pack. The retail one's around 800 MB.

The RTI crash might've been fixed, but the sound issues remain.

Finally got to the download itself, but it's hideously slow. 6 hours to download 500 MB? Yeah, right. :/
