Still crashes with that archive? strange.

Anyway here's a slightly larger archive containing most files aside from the packed archives and the modified sound pack file due to it's size.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/jd5chd

Just extract to the game directory and to be certain that it works it might be a good idea to delete those three folders in the /Data folder though I guess everything gets replaced anyway.

Damn strange, tested it multiple times myself both with original EXE and Razors cracked EXE and the only issue I had is that sometimes Razors nocd fix doesn't exit properly unless you CTRL-Alt-Del the process (Which unfortunately resets settings.) but aside from that no issues, done both tutorials and I'm about halfway trough the learning campaign "Road to independence".

Aside from the files I provided in this second archive there's only a bunch of pack files left and those should work just fine from Razors release of the game if it installed correctly. Confused

anim.pack
battlepresets.pack
battleterrain.pack
groupformations.pack
local_en.pack
main.pack
models.pack
movies.pack
seasurfaces.pack
sound_non_wavefile_data.pack
sounds.pack
sounds_animation_triggers.pack
sounds_campaign.pack
sounds_music.pack
sounds_other.pack
sounds_placeholder.pack
sounds_sfx.pack (That file that differs from retail version once updated trough Steam.)
subtitles.pack
supertexture.pack
terrain_templates.pack
testdata.pack
ui.pack
ui_movies.pack
voices.pack

Might I perhaps ask which language you're running the game in as these are meant for the English localization and thus this file - "patch_en.pack" - might be the issue.
(The boot.pak and these two patch archives don't exist by default for some reason and this particular file handles the English localization.)

Sorry for going a bit off-topic with what probably seems like technical gibberish like this but I'm interested in resolving this problem once and for all. Smile

I actually feel like it just to be fully certain that the problem isn't caused by my little "patch" but it wouldn't really be a good move unless you happen to have access to a quality fiber connection like 10/10 or better yet 100/100 (Offered to several apartments in most cities actually but it's shared between all residents and while it's cheaper than a ADSL 2+ subscription like the current top end 30/2 one it costs a lot to place those cables so there's practically no chance for smaller towns and such to ever access it, unfortunately.)

Sorry for the somewhat useless banter above and together with that it would be close to impossible to distribute such a large archive outside Usenet and Torrent sources.
(And few people would be able to download it compared to these HTTP mirrors which might not always give good speeds but work pretty well and are usually reliable although some are pretty ad-infested and have tons of little countdown timers and checks.)

Anyway hopefully the language differences are the problem here, might be possible to fix in that case. Very Happy

Going back to the actual game I like it more and more, had some issues with Rome and Medieval 2 but they also weren't bad games though I never played the first MtW and Shogun.

Runs great as well though initial loading times could be better and having the settings reset when something crashes (Which is pretty rare but still happened once.) is a bit annoying albeit easily corrected.

Patch will be released next week by the way, posted about it previously but worth mentioning, some smaller fixes to for example trade routes and some optimizations are among the noted changes. Smile

EDIT: I probably use too many smilies and such but it's kinda hard to "show" expressions without them.

Q6600, 8800GTS 320MB, 2GB Ram...

Also using Jbeckmans files (thx a lot btw) which probably means that it's the games fault (also seen similar posts on other forums but don't know if they are using retail/scene version.)

Could be the game then if other people with the retail version also get random crashes, stability improvements is one of the changes in next weeks patch as well. Smile

Seems likely to be the problem actually since using my archive (Either one actually.) with the updated sound file and Razors EXE file would be the same as the retail and updated edition aside from the actual EXE itself. (As it's been modified to remove the Steam dependency.)

Sorry that I couldn't offer much help, will try to be up-to-date with patches once their released and hopefully that solves the problem once and for all.

Eh? What's your setup and what settings are you running it on?

Game has been pretty smooth and bug free for me.

Except for the stupid AI and siege battles.

Siege battles are a joke...

I actually managed to kite Indians with my cavalry while my cannons pounded on them (I had like 300 Indians RUNNING - therefore tiring) after my cavalry (on VH)... Also, the AI sometimes just sits there and does absolutely nothing (usually happens when they're behind cover -had two units shoot them in the flank/back).

Same old, same old. A bunch of people (wouldn't surprise me if they used VISTA) complaining about game optimization when it's them and their shitty computer setups with 10 crappy processes-hogging cpu/ram/disk-access (eg. Norton Utilities, some slow Firewall, MSN, etc. etc.).

I'm having zero issues with lag, white-screen, maps, etc. - game hasn't CTD'd once. And since the sound-fix things are working fine. (Yeah, no MP - but I'm not so dumb to think it would work with a pirate copy anyhow).

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

182.06

I started a small campaign with the united provinces just to take a glimpse of the game and i decided for the lulz to attack the neighbouring spanish region and suddenly half of europe got into war. I really hate the fact that when you attack someone suddenly all of his allies are also against you (if they are really really close allies ok, but in a casual alliance it shouldn't). Hated it as well when in medieval 2 two of your allies went into war with each other and you where forced to break your alliance with one of them.

It works perfectly here... I must have played for 50 turns with 2 different factions, not a SINGLE crash except RtI campaign (I fixed that thanks to some members here, but that campaign is full of fail).

Edit: So far, most alliances feel like casual to me... I had an alliance with Poland (playing as Russia) and their damn protectorate attacks me! I've not made a single hostile move against them, I've not even placed a rake in their region. I only had a mid-seized army in Riga...

Same here, not a single crash, but I bought it on steam so not using the cracked release.

It's either the cracked release or your computer setups thats fucking it up.

Using latest 182.08 WHQL from nvidias site

And game runs smooth

I heard vista gives you AIDS...

On a more serious note, if the game crashes because of the VISTA os then it's CA's fault for failing to properly program their game to work on the latest OS that was released two years ago.

p.s since when is msn a recource intensive application?

You might think its cause your using a cracked release your having problems since Ive yet to meet a single person with retail who has crashes.

Just because you read people on the official forums complaining about crashes doesn't mean they are using retail.
You would be amaized how many dumb people there is going to official forums asking for support using a cracked release.
Then telling people its the the games fault and devs suck not realizing it might be cause its a cracked version
