JB, you you can make patches using CF Toolbox, right? It should only pack the difference between the files.

I guess some peeps want/need a "money Trainer for this game (don't ask me why...but I know it is like that .
Here is a super simple tutorial as to how to make one using (Cheat Engine 5.5)
1. Get Cheat Engine 5,5 here CHEAT ENGINE 5.5
2. Install it .
3. Start up ETW (with the new patch as it allows you to "ALT/TAB" out of the game).
4. Load or start a "game" (you have to be in a campaign and actually see how much money you have)
5. In this example I started as England and have "7500" as start money in the bank
6. ALT/TAB out of the game and start "Cheat Engine"
7. You see that "Icon" traced in red, looks like a PC, hit it!
)
8. Scroll down until you see " Empire.exe" and hit "OK" (This attach the game to Cheat Engine, basically you are now ready to change "values in the game")
9. As we know your current "money" stand is "7500" we will search for that. Simply type in "7500" in the "Value" window in "Cheat Engine" and hit "First Scan"
10. You will see a lot of values/addresses found, no matter...
11 Go back in game and buy something (in this case I bough a ship)
The money is now "6118"
12. ALT/TAB out of game and put (in my case) 6118 in the "Value" box in "Cheat Engine" and hit "NEXT SCAN"
13. You should end up with ONE! address/value!
14. Double click the address/value (1) and it will appear below (2)
15. Tic "FROZEN" and double click at the value
16. Put in what ever you want as money (in this case 100000) and hit ok
17. VIOLA! your nation just gained 100000 in MONEY!
Any fool can do this, so you better get it right Psycho .
Will post in the "VIP" as this will drown here due to all the posts...what a great game this is .

@ CaptainCox
Trainers are legal, so you can use CheatEngine to make an exe and post it here.
(Then you will understand that no matter how simple it may seem, your stuff will never work for everyone, heh)

Oh dear..
The problem is that the addy (address) for money is probably "not the same all the time" It is 100% "Dynamic" (it will change every time you load up the game ), (to lazy to look for it). So you guys have to find "yours" on your own ...hence my tutorial
But once you have entered a "value" for money, it will stay that way...at least for the duration of that campaign...

This game seems to be a clusterfuck as far as pirated releases are concerned. I think I'll wait for a couple of weeks, and if there's no proper release I'll might buy it.

Why is there so many who wants to cheat?, doesn't that take the enjoyment out of the game?. It's really not that hard to master this game.

No. The only Retail release is the one that's out on Amazon and HMV and the like. As with DoW2, the major selling point of Empire is the use of Steamworks, and the associated achievements and the like through the Steam UI. There'll probably be a Proper Scene release, but the only legit version'll be through Steam.

Thats the only thing thats stopping me from buying it. I like to sell off every game that I wont play any more, but this Steam stuff is not allowing me do that. I have Orangebox, l4d, Bioshock, Stalker all sitting in my game list. I could have got some cash if i had the hard copies |
I wouldn't think there is any value in selling on PC games STEAM or not? Especially ones that use CD-Keys and such.

My grandparents are travelling to the US in April, so I've been considering actually buying the retail(-ish) version through them. However, the main detractor at this point is Steam itself. I don't want to be stuck with such service. If the game were pure retail, I'd buy it without thinking twice, despite the ludicrous cost.

Virtually unlimited money basically saps all the challenge from the game. There's nothing keeping you from having 8 billion soldiers. But some people find fun in what some others consider boring.

Then why is Best Buy actually selling the disks, or does the disk require you to use Steam?

As far as I know, the retail version still requires you to install Steam and make an account. All the updating is done through the service, too.
The pure Steam version is an obvious rip-off, given it costs the same as the retail one, but you get no disks nor printed manual. In the beginning, digital distribution was meant to bring cheaper games (given much lower costs), but now it's just a different way to scam customers.

(Currently there's no way to run it without a valid Steam account though as the so called "Revolution loader" isn't working with it for some reason and other methods doesn't seem possible either for various reasons so a updated crack is probably the best bet at the moment unless a updated utility to run the game as if it's "emulated" is released.)
It's worth a purchase though if you're a fan of the genre and like the demo or previous "Total War" titles.
(Oh and this is not like I'm trying to push people into buying games, especially on a site like this, hehe and buying it via Steam isn't a good idea anyway due to the higher prices compared to retail.)
EDIT: It might be possible to create such a difference patch iNatan (Kinda like a .par archive then?), haven't tried it though but I guess at the very least it'll cut down on the filesize a bit.
(Thankfully at the moment the patched data is able to be highly compressed to roughly 50 MB for all updated files or 70 MB for the entire folder and everything aside from the main .pack archives) |
thanx for response:
Yeah, i think a new cracked exe will be the best choice,I do not expect a new patch of razor "because if the release" was fucked up and they do not fixed it, how many options we get to the crack?
Anyway, this new patch is not of great importance i was expecting something like performance and stability issue.. but again for experience if someone find the "work arround" to make this patch works will be very nice for future patch`s
ps: this is my first total war i play, and very nice by the way im on the last chapter i think from the campaing i think is called "the rise of united states?" the next one from chapter 3

But, one plus would be that the digital distribution "should" not go bad compared to CDs (scratches, broken, lost, etc.) That's the main reason why I prefer th service.

I happen to take good care of my CD/DVDs, so I don't see why I should pay 10-15 dollars more for an undermined version of the retail product. Is it the "ineptitude tax" in case I routinely scratch/break DVDs? Is it the "get-your-ass-off-your-chair tax" in case I'm lazy enough not to go to the games store?
Hell, my legit Warcraft II CD still works just fine, and I got it around the time the game came out (1995). I wish I could say the same about my dad's StarFlight II (1989) 5.25" disks. But those were grossly unreliable.

Who can help me out:
Downloaded the Razor version asap it got out. Got the problem with the SID files altought I dind't even noticed because I just right away started a Grand Campange. Then I reinstalled using the _0,_1,_2,_2 methode and now Road to Indep works but my movies in which two gentlemen fight/dual doesn't work properly anymore. But the first time it did worked so I has nothing to do with my specs. During the installer from Razor at DVD2 I was only asked 3 times for SID files so I pointed to _0,_1,_2 and when I was ready to point to _2 for the 2nd time the instaler was done. Does that have anything to do with it?

It's most likely that price so they don't piss off retailers and publishers too bad. Digital Distribution is still fairly new, especially on that scale. I expect prices to become more realistic in a couple of years orso when steam gets a couple of realistic competitors.
