Bye bye England!!
The disalowed goal was not disalowed at all, it was a foul, english commentators are not objective at all.. "there was no push!" hehehe

Do you live in the real world?
Tell me one reason how that goal could've been disallowed.
Once again inept refereeing robs England.

first of all, if that goal was allowed and England were to (unlikely) go on and win everyone (with half a brain) would be accusing the English of stealing the game from the portugese. Simply because they played Football, England did not.
secondly - Terry was apparently offside at some point (so I'm told), but the important thing here is that he blocked the keeper, put his arm in his face/neck area and provided a shield for campbell to get his head on the ball.
Ricardo went down easily, but contact with the keeper in that fashion is not allowed - especially when it's shielding campbell into the goal.
Having said that I'm not a referee so I'm speaking my opinion which isn't really official

There was no offside in that goal (watch the replays)
Terry at no point fouled the goalkeeper, at all times his eyes were only on the ball,
football is about scoring more goals than the opposition,
despite Portugals possession England legitimately scored more goals in the 90 minutes than Portugal but were denied by a peverse referee decision who hadn'd kept up with the play!

Here is a simple football rule: every contact with the goalkeeper inside his box is automatically a foul. If u watch the replay from behind u ll see that terry's hand is on riccardo at some point, thats why he also cant get up but stays on the ground.
I think u dont live in the real world my friend, where england is not always the victim. Perhaps in another 1966 years england will again win something.

The ref had no balls. That is all. Think about it. In the middle of Portugal infront of all those fans. The goal was legitimate yes, but dubious also. The ref took the easy option.

England is just bad losers, like Italy they must have something to complain and blame on instead of just admitting they played bad football.

Quote: | You can also keep watching that replay over and over because it will do you no good it seems. Not only is there a call for offside, obstruction, elbow in the face and a good push up on Terry from campbell to get the ball - but England were awful straight after they scored.
Portugal on the otherhand played with much more conviction, style and attacking prowess and while deserved to win in normal time couldn't get that all important winning goal.
So it's a shame it had to goto Penalties and the game is tainted by a so called bad decision and Englands inability to actually play football for 90+ minutes. |
If Italy played bad football and England didn't I'd like to know which game your referring to? if it's the Sweeden game I'd ask you to download the full match off the internet and see for yourself - the first half was all Italy and it was only until they reverted to a defensive stance in the second half that sweden lit up and they fell down.
Was a chance goal however that knicked it, but they deserved it on the basis of second half.
Italy in other matches though played really bad I agree, but this game stood out for me as being good from then (and a faint glimmer of hope).
I hope Real Madrid are really serious about Carvalho because he has been playing some fantastic football and would be nigh on unstoppable alongside Samuel
Sol did well yes, just a shame he had a donkey called Terry beside him (responsible for the goal btw), Ledley King who did so well should of stayed - something wrong with Terry in the games he played...
anybody notice the no goalkeeper gloved save by Ricardo?
Quote: | Not to worry tho, france will hopefully go out too today/tonight (where ever your watching from) |
Hopefully they take a hint and start attacking France - that way it leaves them open to the counter attack that they haven't been able to use. Teams are just throwing 10 men behind the ball hoping to stifle the game.
I don't think it's a push over though if Greece play well - I always thought that the group with Spain, Greece and Portugal was very tough.

Dunno, Holland hasn't really been that convincing. I'd say more likely to take the crown would be Cech Republic or Portugal. Hopefully Denmark will give them a race for their money.

Greece did not play that well, sure congratulations on beating France, they leapt on one defensive error by combination of Lizarazu/Gallas/Thuram and defended well but it wasn't inspiring.
I'm not going to argue though because France played badly, but at least they attacked and tried to win - even if it was lethargic and edgy.
Game was lost in the first half I think, and Zidane looked out of sorts - which is now a shame because it's more than likely his last International tournament I hope though now that with no national team he is more fit for Real Madrid and able to shine one last time before he rides off into the sunset
I think Henry should of gotten the equaliser in the second half closing with that header though, he will be disappointed with his overall 'performances'.
BTW It's true that Greece are not in the poll, but this was not a personal decision - rather that I did it in order of bookies favourites which means also the most popular teams and therefore the ones more likely to be voted for.
Wasn't any other reason why they aren't there - there is just a limit on the numbers I could put in.
ALSO...
some pictures that I thought were amusing:

poor first half, okay second - with both teams coming up on top every so often (Robben impressed again) and an exciting extra time period where Holland just edged it.
Seedorfs freekick would of been in with a bit more pace, it was very well taken
Zlatan looked like he was going to miss the moment he walked up - there was just something in his eye, and the way he reacted afterwards... well I don't know how to explain it but he just seems weird? not enought emotion to me...
wasn't the greatest of games, but a lot of good chances.
