Strange thing is, I left it locked overnight many many times
and nothing ever happened to it
Totally unexpected and totally shitty

Did you call the cops? Someone may have just stolen it cause they didn't want to walk home and ditched it near their house.
Call the cops for sure man.
But that sucks....I hate thieves....

thats why unless you have garage you do not buy expensive cars and gadgets like wheels, they spent like $1000 on each wheel just to look "cool" and look where it got them..
l2buy wheel locks for 20$ but things like that never happen AM I RITE? even when my friend comes by with a bike, I put it inside my house..you never when someone walks by and says ohh nice bike! I have always wanted to have ohhh and its free too!

I dont think the cops would care because its just a bike. I had it locked up at a bike stop where there were many other bikes. I can't believe they took MINE
Next time I will use more than 1 cheap lock. Maybe Il use like 4 locks.

Cops will care man.
Recently, in Toronto, there was this blitz on a bike stealing ring. Thousands of bikes were recovered and people who had their bikes stolen like 20 years ago got them back. Cant remember how many bikes the cops got but i think it was in the high thousands.
File a report. Get it on record.
You never know. A cop may be cruising around on patrol and see your bike and you might get it back. Or it might have been ditched cuz someone just took it so they could get home and someone else found it and turned it in.
File a report man. Takes 15 mins and you might get lucky.
My dad's car was broken into recently (again) by these 2 teenager's who were drunk. My dad never keep money in his car/wallet and we found his bank card, debit card and credit card on the driveway.
We still phoned the cops then went out looking for the guys that did it. We found them staggering at the end of the street and we started talking to them to stall them and the cops showed up. They couldn't prove they broke into my dad's car (i saw the fat kid run, i knew it was them) but they got searched cuz they were drunk and minor's and the cops found booze, weed and shrooms on them. Kid's ended up at least spending the weekend in jail cuz it was on a Friday lol
If your going to go car hopping, you don't do it drunk and you don't have anything illegal on you.....amateurs lol
Anyway, file a police report cause I betcha the bike is somewhere in your area.

Or just get one of those alarms that goes off if someone touches the car.
A few of my boys have pimped rides and they have those alarms and they are loud as hell. It scares the would be thieves away and lets my buddy know to call the cops. And where they live, a cop is no more than 5 mins away so they usually get caught.

here in belgium, when a bike is stolen, you go to the cops and they will laugh.
"take one back, goodbye"
Never ever leave a fancy bike in public near train stations etc. It is better to put them in spaces that are really crowded. 20 bikes together, no one is there, only the bikes. You can be busy for 20 min without anyone noticing you.
Are there no guarded bike housings near train stations? Here we have special bike parkings that are guarded, really fancy! Although even they get stolen in those housings...

The place I kept it was a public bike stop very close to the train station. There were about 7 or 8 other bikes parked there and it is a very crowded area. However a few blocks away from that place is a completely empty residential area with only houses and barely any people. I rarely ever see anybody walking those streets and there aren't really any cars either. You need a permit to park your car there. Perhaps I should park my next bike in that area?
I know this all sounds so vague. I will take some pictures of the area on Monday and post them. Im gonna plan this all out before purchasing a new bike. Also the lock I used was one of those metal wires that bend. Maybe I should have used a chain.

the fact is only, when there are many bikes at the same place, there is no place for people + it is not suspicious that someone is looking at several bikes, because maybe he isnt finding his own bike.
I live in Ghent in belgium. I think there are more bikes (from uni students) than people. I know how to steal a bike... and how to avoid that my own bike gets stolen.
Everything they say is usually wrong. For example, will you steal a bike that is parked in a shopping street? Of course not. But will you steal a bike on a place where 20 bikes are places together behind a corner? Doesnt matter if it is a busy area or not. You can sit there, look at 20 bikes and noone will ask you what you are doing, and if so "i cannot remember where i parked my bike".
Rule 2:
Very fancy = not done, too much $$ to earn to steal
Very crappy=not done, people think you stole it yourself and steal it back, same goes for a broken bike. Here in Ghent, put a bike with 1 wheel outside and 2 days later you have only a frame left
Fancy and normal bikes are ok. People have respect for those bikes and leave them alone.
And rule 3: never expect to find your bike back, unless it was stolen by your drunk neighbour, in that case he might put it back 2 days later on the same place
You know what we used to do? We arrived in Ghent and had to go to our appartment (me and my friends). Just take a walk through the parking space (like 1000-2000 bikes) and have a look at all the bikes. You find a decent one with a weak lock. Takes like 10 sec to fuck up the lock, just use a metal piece you find on the ground and force the lock to break. You bike to the appartment with that bike. When you go back to train station, you dump the bike.
Once you find a decent bike, you never park it there, but in a place where there is a lot of light, lantarn for example in front of a cafe near the station. A single bike in front of a cafe. It will never get stolen.

When I was a kid and I regret it. I did a lot of bad shit when I was young that I now regret.
But I haven't stolen anything since I was a kid and I hate thieves.
And it has nothing to do with religious shit, its just on principle. If you want something, work hard for it and get it. Don't steal shit something from someone that they have worked hard for. It's terrible.
Everyone....well, 99% of people make mistakes when they are young. I made quite a few a learnt from it.
Hope that clarifies what I meant.

My GT Performer bike was stolen at college campus. Was using one of those chains with a plastic cover over it. Needless to say, a pair of bolt cutters could cut it. Reported it to police, never found.
If I would ever by another bike and lock it again, I would one of those U shaped metal bars that lock..nothing chain link..

Man, if you guys keep getting your bikes stolen, get titanium locks with a big thick metal chain that bolt cutters wouldn't have a chance to cut through.
Chains are easy to find, go to any metal shop and I'm sure you could get one for 20 bucks and a good lock.
Maybe look a lil funny on the bike rack but it won't be stolen.

Yea i was thinking of getting a heavy duty chain instead of stupid bike locks (U-shaped and the bendable one with the plastic cover). Il just get chain and giant locks. And Im gonna go with spankie's advice and not keep it on the bike rack anymore. Im going to keep it away from any other bikes.
Theres this amazing bike that I see on my way home everyday for the past year and it has dual suspension and everything and the guy has it locked up using those heavy metal chains and titanium lock. Im guessing its mostly about the lock.
Okay so Im definitely going to get some chains and locks before making a bike purchase. This is the bike that was stolen from me by the way:
I recieved it as a gift from relative. They ordered it from amazon. They have some nice prices on bikes on Amazon. This bike was around $130.
And this was the exact type of bike lock that I used to lock it:
