... on my video card!
All this time, I've been cleaning it with compressed air, and still, a huge ball of dust has been gathering inside the card, until it reached a point of not being able to release almost any air (on 100%)! Good thing I put my finger there to check if air is coming out, because it was running very hot lately.
Well, having to deal with ATI's stupidity of not being able to open the air compartment and clean properly, I took a tweezers, two clock 1.5mm screwdrivers and took the ball bit by bit. Took 3 hours, and I feel proud!
Now, on 45% fan speed I get more air out of the card then I got on 100% before.

Haha well because it was a huge ball of dust, compressed into a tough ball. I had to make it into small bits, scrape them out between the blades of the fan and remove the dust pieces with tweezers. All this, on top of the fact I had to operate within 2mm between the fan blades. Pfft, my operation puts the entire cast of Grey's Anatomy to shame!

Nah man, I try to clean my case as often as I can. I use compressed air to remove dust, and it's pretty effective. But in the case of the Radeon, damn... I should have recorded a video of the operation, it was more and more and more and more...

heh cleaned out the other pc yesterday.. ati card.. pc was crapping up during games so i figured the card was overheating... i NEVER knew there was a vent in that thing aiming into (instead of out of) the pc.. thing was caked with dust.. not dust u could blow away, but matted, i stared at it for about 3 seconds before i even realised it was a vent, it just looked like a solid gray piece of backing - all working nicely though.
im not as tech savvy as you though, i just use a vacuum cleaner

Well, the VC can't do everything obviously, but it still does a pretty good job. Then I use wet wipes to clean the fan thoroughly.

Yeah, man we opened up the lungs and cleaned the tumor entirely His lungs are now ready for entirely new dose of dust to fill up for the next few months.

Dust filters on my case prevent most of it from making it's way in. Anything that makes it inside is easily removed after that. Helps to keep your case well above floor level.
I don't really bother to do it, annually works for me.

I keep a 2 small fans blowing into the comp through the grated sections of the case. I opened the case up a few days ago just to see if anything needed cleaning and there was barely any dust in it.
Maybe you guys should give that a try. Also keeps things cooler a littler bit...not much, but a degree or 2 depending on the temperature of the room.

you should be careful with the compressed air. People often blow the dust even further into the fan or computer making it even harder to remove. I usually use a vacuum cleaner

And even more careful if you use a vacuum cleaner. With compressed air, ESD is no problem.

I usually just sloosh mine around in the bath and hang it to dry over a radiator. I have to unplug it though, coz the cable won't reach all the way to the bathroom.

You could be telling the truth because that really would work.
