So, its only been a year that I bought a Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7170S and its already fucking dead! Still possible to read discs but burning is not working anymore (random no seek complete errors on all kinds/brands of DVD-R's) I was never happy with it, it was noisy, took ages to read and recognize discs and it was from Sony. Bleh, Sony!
As for the new one I dont really care about the writing speed, the most important things are - the burner has to be a) SILENT and b) DURABLE. Cheap is also good I don't want to spend more than 50 bucks for it. I'm aiming for an LG or a Plextor. What about the LG GH-22NS40 is it any good?

This really happens with all of them after 1-2 years. Nec are really the best, but if you insist, then the Samsung ones are good too.

I have a Lite-On DVD-burner that's been going strong for like... 6-7 years.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

LG or Pioneer both are top quality & from personal experience the LG will last the longest. Wink
