Watchmen 9/10: I watched it in the cinema last night and the film was really awesome. The story is very good, and it's not just one of those superhero-superpowers flick. Love the fact that they didn't fuc*** up the end, no classical good triumphs over evil in the last scene, which is a big plus! A bit too much flashing of the blue cock, but all in all very good.

watchmen - 8/10 at cinema, morality of the movie was all over the place which made a nice change from the norm.
saw v - 6/10 the twist was a bit weak with this one.

what kind of tit judges a film on the first 10 minutes.. do you know how much I hated the first 10 minutes of pans labyrinth? then I watched the rest and it sits as one of the best films ever made and one of my favorites. Sweeney todd is a great film!

Completely agree with you! Sweeny Todd was totally weird movie but it was very good. Loved the atmosphere of it and the way the story developed... oh and the meat pies

I can't rate this movie but I would like to describe how I feel now right after watching it. I wish I hadn't. It was such a piece of brutal perversity I can't discribe the movie itself.
I really don't know how you were able to get entertained by this sadistic piece of shit wgem, but believe me there has to be something wrong with you if you really enjoyed watching this movie! Maybe it was just the first moments shock you had after watching it which led you to the thought that this movie deserves a rating...
Martyrs is sick and hollow. It's not funny, not entertaining; it's not deep nor meaningful. It's just damn bloody and perverted.

Hmm, this is a little like "Last House on the Left". It's not good, it's not particularly entertaining, but some scenes hit you like a ton of bricks (unless you're completely desensitized or can't stand movies older than 1990).
The scene after the girl has been brutally raped and is slowly walking into the lake, like she's silently telling the perpetrator to kill her since she's already dead inside, and you can see a hint of remorse, guilt and pain in his face (like he's disturbed about what's just happening) just before he raises the gun and shoots her in the head just before her head goes beneath the surface. That's one damn chilling and cold scene that definitely screwed with my head.
That said, I'm not going to watch Martyrs, it seems like a pill for depression (ie. opposite of anti-depressant).

Martyrs: 5/10. I was really really bored with that movie. I was browsing the net and talking on msn because this movie was so dull and boring. I expected more, something shocking, something to keep my attention to the screen, butnothing came. Haute Tension or A L'Interieur were waaaay better than this.
Bedtime Stories: 7/10. Feels weird to describe this movie right after Martyrs but i saw it yesterday. It's a nice comedy everyone can enjoy, has some funny moments, never gets boring, fun charachters. I really enjoyed that one

It's still a matter of personal taste, but I'm glad that people told me what it was about. Those movies are NOT for me, so the 9/10 rating is irrelevant in this case for me. But each his own

the flyboys (sky kids) 7.5 / 10
i really wasnt expecting to LIKE let alone love this film, based purely on the plot summary and film title, but this was a really great film... hell of a lot of fun, insanely good acting from the kids, neat story.. just all around a hell of a good time... really enjoyed it.

Okuribito / Departures - 10/10
It was awesome. i really liked the main character, Masahiro Motoki (Daigo) played his role very good. Mika was a bit annoying at the beginning but that changed with her returning from her hometown. i recommend this movie!.

Film is about breaking boundaries, breaking molds, creating new trends and entertainment.
If movies didnt tempt the taboo and deepest reaches of human nature they would become very boring very fast. I don't say Martyrs is one of the best ever made, but 9/10 for its originality and standing out in a sea of brown and grey. The violence was intended, and needed imo. I like to see a film that tries to test me and it did this well.
I don't enjoy brutality in the slightest, I enjoy good film making and that is what it was for me.. something new, not just the average torture porn hostel film or SAW remake. I'd compare it to Last house on the left, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Captivity (a very under-rated movie), movies that actually set the benchmarks a little higher in terms of 'new'.

And the music was always incredibly beautiful and always at the right pace, great movie indeed.
