Hi,

You'll most likely have to set them manually to that speed in the BIOS (on my board it does it even on the Auto setting, but sometimes the RAM is set to a specific divider - and if you're running your Q6600 at 400Mhz bus, then the RAM is most likely tied at 400Mhz too - to make 800Mhz DDR)

I wish I did mate, but I'm unfamiliar with the BIOS layout on Gigabyte boards :-\

This should help though; http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mainboards/display/ga-ep45-ds3_8.html

Change from Auto and see if you can't specify speed.

I believe you'll find them in X:\Windows\Minidump .. but if I recall correctly, there's also a few files in your userprofile\local\temp directory too.

There is a small chance that an updated BIOS would correctly recognize your memory and set them automatically+correctly.

dont know your m/b bios but usually its the cpu/memory multiplier/divider that you'll need to change to get it to run at 1066 when your on a 400 fsb. its probably at 2x when you'll need it at 2.66x
when you o/c to 450/8 its still seeing it as o/c'd 400 and reports it as ddr2 800, try running cpu-z and seeing what it reports the actual frequency is.
i would try 380x9 but with the fsb/mem multiplier at 2.66x giving you memory at 1010mhz (will be reported as ddr2 1066) rather than 760 (@380x9) or 900(@450x8) that your getting at the moment

which 2.66 should i use because i have 2.66 400mhz & 2.66 200mhz . i have tried the 400mhz one but vista wasn't stable i'm not sure if i should raise the mch core voltage above 1.300v ?
