New screens, visuals look a bit odd to me for some reason.
(Unsure why but it kinda reminds me of the model program Poser or "3D" titles like Lula3D.)
EDIT: Figured it out, character models are pretty detailed and such but the environment itself looks a bit bland and undetailed.

I think the word you're looking for is "generic" which is exactly how it looks.

It doesn't look as stylised and 'clean', quite a bit more realistic. I'm not sure at a glance, it's going to need some hands on experience to know whether it impacts upon the game. I always liked the cutesy character of the originals. I'm personally looking forward to it anyway.

They should fix the light system and you will get your "realistic feel" , see COD4 .

Yeah but remeber that 95% of Sims players are kids or teenage girls whose graphic cards is barely GF 78xx so there is no sense to make the real cool graphics. Sad but truth.
My gf is playing The Sims on my PC: Q6600 @ 3,52GHz, 8800 GTS 512MB, 4GB RAM etc...

Sims2 can be great to roleplay imo, i like starting out like a total white trash in a trailer park working my way up, kind of fun for a while if you mod it and make a community on your own with your own twisted families and celebrities hehe. The loading times kind of ruins it though, but at least they seem to have fixed that, too bad the gfx is still so boring/generic.

As I understand it this is probably going to be down to the removal of loading screens and the expansion into a town/community Sims experience as a result. I've watched the video of it now and it looks good.

Meh, so they announced it officially already. I was hoping to try it sooner. Looks quite interesting with the open world and all.

Standard disc check and a serial only, no online activation or such.
(Serial probably for online verification via your profile for extra stuff and DLC)

I honestly think that a game like The Sims have a huge potential if only they didn't limit so much on what can or cannot be done socially. For example a old ad for the Sims 2 showed a woman in complete shock to find her boyfriend/husband in bed with two other women. (these were real people by the way) The little options menu was above her saying things like "scream", divorce, and even "join" Of course the game totally lacked the ability to create a polygamist or even open relationship it was all classified as cheating and would cause negative reactions if the sim was caught in the act.

I never really got into the sims, if i wanted to tell ppl to go and take a piss every 5mins i would work in a nursing home.
Still, i will try this and see if its any better.

It has to also run on girly pink laptops, it's a big part of their target group.

Boy do you have it right. My wife likes The Sims and when we shopping for a new laptop for her it just had to be pink. She wanted a heavily overpriced pink Vaio and I ended up having to force her to accept a cheaper ACER with much better hardware. She still nags me to this day that she wanted a pink one.
