This is pretty much the same as the Men in Black 3 info for now, but it's been announced by Sony, so...
I'm not sure if this is good news or not, but Sony have announced that they're making Men in Black 3, along with another Ghostbusters movie and Spiderman 4.
Quote: | During a presentation at the ShoWest film tradeshow in Las Vegas, Sony's Rory Bruer confirmed that the studio is working on a new Ghostbusters and Spider-Man movie, and is also pressing forward with development on Men In Black 3. |

I'll do a template when there's some more info.

It's being written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who also write The Office, and Judd Apatow's involved, so it could be ok. I'm reserving judgement until I hear if Bill Murray's involved.

to be honest, murray's starting to grate on my nerves. i just want aykroyd, ramis and hudson.
and for the love of shit dont let them fucking RECAST it like that upcoming fucking star trek movie, and dont have the original guys 'replaced' by a 'new team'. either of those 2 things happen, and the movie can go fuck itself.

Unless they're going for a story about geriatric ghostbusters they will most likely recast a new and younger generation. Remember, it was 20 (!!!) years ago they did Ghostbusters II. However, current rumors @ imdb does list the original busters, but that's most likely just guesses by whoever added the movie to imdb.
EDIT: Quote: | Harold Ramis talked to MTV about "Ghostbusters 3." He says all the original actors are back on board. But get this, the movie is nothing more than a "hand off" film. The originals will play "the sage mentors," according to Ramis, to a group of "young Ghostbusters." Ugghh...Did the producers of this movie learn nothing from "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"? "Hand-off" movies are lame. No body wants to see Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis running around making "we're too old for this" jokes only to make the young ones look the real heroes. My interest in this project just dropped by ten-fold. |

id rather have a slower/more tired pace WITH the old cast, then a bunch of freakin teenagers doing flips and dives and rolls and lots of slow motion shit, thats all im saying.
i mean the comic ability and the way the originals deliver their lines, goes a hell of a long way i think... but agreed i guess...to make money these days, u gotta throw some kids into the damn films... i hate it, but thats the way it is.
edit:
well there u have it. fuck ghostbusters 3. desire to see the film... 5.27%

Hand-off movies suck when they're obviously done just to extend a franchise, but they're good when done right.
I'd say the first MIB movie was a hand-off movie, with TLJ training Will Smith to take over, but they did it right so it became an important part of the story. I know TLJ's character wasn't established before the first movie like the original Ghostbusters are, but even if he had been, that wouldn't have affected how good MIB was.

now thats just silly. id never concider mib to be a hand-off movie, thats like calling toy story a hand-off movie because it introduces buzz...
I certainly wouldnt compare it to what theyre doing with gb3, its a completely seperate issue, with an allready established team only showing up to give credibility to the film and create a LOOSE association to whats essentially a completely NEW franchise...

I get your point, but it's only because it's done well that it doesn't seem like a hand-off movie. If they somehow made the hand-over an integral and entertaining part of the story (like in MIB) it wouldn't seem like a cheap trick to prolong the franchise.
Look at it another way, if they made a crappy STV MIB prequel with K running around in the 60's as one of the first Men in Black, MIB would then automatically become a hand-over movie. But judging it on it's own merits, it's still good.
