No, you join a match from the lobby screen. Then you enter match-setup and choose a DG and chat with the others before the match begins. The screenshot above is the match-setup screen.

Is there anything persistent in this game? Like your Demigods you play. . . I am supposing all their stats reset each battle?

You´re still comparing a w3 mod that has been out for more than 5 years, it took a lot of nerfing and balancing skills and heroes, and after 5 years of playing dota i´m sick of it.
I havent tried demigod, but it seems far more complex and with more depth -with rpg elements- than a simple four-skill hero as in dota. From what i saw in the video, u can upgrade every part of the armor, as well as creeps and build defenses (i think). The minimap zoom out like supreme commander is a nice addition too.
In the end, it will surely take some time to balance the heroes and skills or whatever, but that´s a price i´m willing to pay.

I get the same problem, i emailed them but i got no response |
Pey, scumuk do you by any chance get the prices in wrong currency ? Since late february I am getting prices in Turkish Lira for example Capitalism 2 $9.99 (15,89 YTL TRY). I emailed their support and they told me its their extra fraud protection system and its so awesome that it could even detect your national currency via IP address. Really bad idea IMHO
So, in order to complete the transaction the country field must be equal to currency you get in parentheses. In my case support told me to change the country field to Turkey during checkout phase. And I should keep doing it until they fix my IP range. One month passed and they are still "fixing" it

ah, many thanks i will try that when i get home |
Be sure to monitor your card statement afterwards, so they don't double charge you, in case your first transaction would get authorized or "pushed thru" by your bank.

This is a fun game, but it has serious network issues. Of about a dozen 5v5 matches I tried to play, only one of them was successful, the rest lagged out. In fact, I've only met a few other beta testers that have successfully played a 5v5 match.
DG relies on P2P, which means everyone shares the lag of whoever is lagging the most. As you can imagine, this makes most games unplayable. You will probably be hearing a lot about this when reviews start popping up.

I've already bought it. That's the only way to get into the Beta. Dunno, it's a very hit-or-miss game. The graphics are great and the engine has been optimized to run even on my shitty laptop with integrated graphics. So that's a big plus for me. Also seems like a great game to play with friends and clannies. So, while I've spent the $50 I can't recommend anyone else to do it. If you have the cash, take the plunge and tell us how you feel. Otherwise bugger off for 6 months until its selling for $20.
In short: I'm satisfied, but I don't know if you will be.

I believe the beta is over now because the game is coming out in a week. There is no reason to pre-order at this point. Also, I would definitely wait to order the game until the network code is fixed. This game is only fun when played online, and if the game flops due to the network code, there is no reasons to buy it.

Email so they will tell you what went wrong with your transaction. If it is a billing address check problem, contact your bank, maybe they will be able to temporary disable it ala no matter what you type as billing address your bank will send the OK during the check. Although, your bank may suggest you to apply for virtual VISA / MasterCard instead, as such cards have relaxing checks and some banks even allow to lower security level for example to be able to buy without CVC codes.
Another option would be PayPal. And if everything fails, according to Stardock forums they accept wire transfer but it could be $30 extra easily, so it probably would be cheaper to just import the retail edition.

Sad. Network code is still horrible. Devs trying to put a good spin on it but they and the community know it ain't so.

Networking is real real bad still.. but i'm sure it will improve in time.. likely not for launchday though which is a real shame.

So does this have proper singleplayer, or is it just practice for MP?

On the day of release the official forums are going to be spammed with hundreds, if not thousands, of complaints. Even in the beta (which received constant network code updates), getting into a 3v3 match was a pain in the ass. It often took 4-5 attempts and 20-40 minutes. 5v5 matches were the stuff of legend. I've only heard from a handful of players who managed to play a 5v5.
Getting into a match is not the real problem. The real problem is the P2P technology, which makes everyone lag if a single person lags. Doesn't matter how good the host's connection is. Gameplay turns into a stutter-fest when someone starts lagging.

Is there no way to see if the person is lagging before starting to play or anything?
