I love (not) those idiots who read stuff and release them as if they were who managed to modify the stuff. Translating, this crack is the original executable, plus a renamed TagesClient.dat

Sadly not true. Some morons just used the demo executable that only allows you to play the demo level.

I really hate the way retards spam amazon customer review with 1 star, because of DRM. Really assholeish. They should take their software politics elsewhere.

that's actually an interesting point, activation file + decent clone = running rame Very Happy
or maybe the activation file could be used for reverse engineering to finally produce a crack

sadly, i don't know either where that bugger hides...if no one else knows, the best bet would probably to a) search the install directory for which files were modiefied/created after the installation was done or b) run a comparison software between your activated install dir and an unactivated one.

I wish they had option to "rent" the game meaning 1 activation limit and deactivates after 2 days for $10. Game is crappy so its not really worth more, except for the old one which I already have(sure older graphics but who cares).

The way anti-DRM people overuse the word "Draconian" is so retarded.

"Draconian," as a legal term, refers to a system where even small crimes are given extreme, severe, or cruel punishments. The way the anti-DRM 'tards use the word really makes no sense at all.

I'm pretty sure that assface Richard Stallman was the one who popularized this misuse of the term. Ugh. So annoying.

it's more viable than forcing customers to pay too much money for a game with restrictive bullshit

maybe publishers should really think about pricing models...so that if you pay the full price (50$) you get the game without any restrictions, just basic disc-based copy protection, but for a lower price, let's say 10-20 bucks you are limited to onyl one install/playthrogh or something similar. the way is not to try (and fail) to stop piracy by enforcing more and more DRM methods on the customer, but to actually think about how to get ppl to buy games instead of pirating them - not by punishing them, but by offering some incentive.

that's exactly what i meant. i won't buy a game through digital distribution anytime soon, especially if i have to pay sometimes even more than in stores and i don't even get a dvd. but rent it for a few days or simply just pay for the time that i play it (of course there would have to be different rates for different genres, otherwise devs would just stretch out and water down action games to maximize profit)? count me in!

it already works with movies, why not als try games.
plus it would eliminate the used games market, which publishers are bitching about anyway all the time.

So Atari made this new kind of protection to avoid "Early Piracy", it may prevent it, but are they sure everyone will buy the game if there's no pirated version? Well, maybe some peeps might buy, but for SURE they will sell a little amount, because they try to be smart but they fail.

On Atari's mind it's like this, we stop piracy, we sell more (hmm, sure, by reading the comments on their forums and Amazon, sure), and i say to Atari: piracy will never end, the same seems to happen with your ignorance.

New Anti-Piracy = Install Limit = Less units sold.

Atari = Fail.

Bankrupt of Atari and/or developers coming in the next months/next year, mark my words.

In my opinion, Draconian is a perfect word to use in this situation. Extreme, severe and cruel DRM used to protect a relatively inexpensive software product. For example, extremely expensive applications like Adobe Creative Suite or Avid video editing software that cost thousands come with quite simple software protections.

DRM will not be the undoing of Atari. Only a small percentage of their sales comes from PC anyways, so it won't be that that kills them (if they do die anytime soon).

The developers are now under EA's wing, to make both Jason Bourne games, and "Project Redlime," which is a resurrection of an old EA franchise (though which one is a secret for now; many suspect either Syndicate, or Wing Commander). So, with EA having so much interest invested in them, there is little chance that Starbreeze will close up anytime soon.

Uh huh. And what crime is being punished?

Yes, some DRM is restrictive, but "Draconian" is the wrong word for it.
