This really confuses me, as the game supposedly takes place 20 years after the original game.

Wait, what? I've read two different "rumors", namely that it's a prequel.. And then I read it takes place 7 years after the original. There's so much fud around this that it's silly.

Wiki says:

Quote:
Set ten years after the events of BioShock, a number of towns around the world have been reporting kidnappings of young girls by attackers described as "thin", with red lights often reported as either being worn by the attacker or spotted nearby in the sea.

Well, OK, Razz then it's ten years later, but how can you be playing the original Big Daddy, if the game is still set in Rapture? Laughing

The player will take the role of the first Big Daddy ever created in Rapture, who has seemingly survived the events of the first game.

Not really a problem as far as I'm concerned.

Way I hear it is that because you are a prototype, and the conditioning didn't take, you were put in 'storage'. Then Tennenbaum revives you just prior to the events of the second game, so you can combat the Big Sister menace, and free the little sisters once and for all.

I don't believe it will be even half as good as the original, but it may still be fun to play.

Hey, you can use plasmids while shooting guns!

It's already better than the original.

Now if they would make it not boring like the original, game is win.

If you thought the original was boring you should probably just give up on gaming. I don't expect the sequel to be significantly different in terms of gameplay or narrative structure.

Narrative was fine. The only reason I played it to the end was for the story. It was the gameplay that was boring.

Bioshock was pretty much a very generic shooter. Where you couldn't die (yes I heard it got patched but I haven't played it like that). Not to mention the splicers getting their little ugrade in terms of durability later on with no visible cues. I could go on and list all the things that didn't sit too well with me, but I'd rather not waste either of our time. I'm sure you're aware of the failings Bioshock had in terms of gameplay. Story, design, atmosphere? Solid. Gameplay? Boring.

I'm not that much a cynic to not expect better from the sequel. The only thing I'm pessimistic about when it comes to gaming is that it'll be a shitty port, which I'm sure won't be the case here.

As I have previously mentioned above, they've already fixed one of the things I disliked from the original which is the treatment of plasmids as being pretty much just another gun to be switched to, and not a different weapon that can be used in conjunction with the guns.

So um yeah, I'm looking forward to the improvements.

There are visible differences, such as the lightning or fire which emanates from them, which also indicates their immunity to a particular plasmid.

I agree with you about some of the flaws, but that hardly made it boring in my opinion. Maybe because I played it as a stealth game, using the stealth centric plasmids/tonics that I enjoyed it far more.

I didn't like the fighting in the first one. Enemies moved quickly/erratically and iirc shots didn't affect them, really annoying Sad

I liked the hacking minigame, hope it's in and improved Very Happy Pipemania ftw !
