It has lan and internet, so hamachi should be possible. Still, i´m gonna buy it since you need an account to play online and it don´t like using hamachi. SP has skirmish and tournament. 8 demigods, 8 maps, 4 modes, should be fun Smile

It´s too early to say since you have to know the items, skills and other stuff to understand the overall gameplay mechanics, but my first impression is a good one, so much more than i excepted. Gfx and optimation are great as i said, the skill tree is quite varied, you can buy artifacts, items for each part of your armor, upgrade your defenses and minions, etc etc.
Can´t say much about gameplay since i´ve been playing with bots, but it´s certainly fun and hopefully it will become the dota replacement i was looking for.

As soon as you guys get it we can try it over hamachi or online -if u buy it.

No. Don't think so. i can't locate it on NG myself.

I have the game preordered so i will have it Tuesday so i guess it's not such a big deal. Would have made for a nice little diversion today though.

everyone that has the game can basically "crack" the game,
the game coming with no protection at all, beside that the you need cdkey to play online of course.

hows the MP? I usually tend to get bored with online games especially strategy since I suck at it.

It's not a strategy game really, it's more like a RPG, but based on my SP observations, though i guess you can't call SP for MP, even if it's the same deal just with Bots instead.

But i really think it needs work, it's not bad, but i don't think it's good either, especially i hate the generals, the UI doesn't seem that great for minions, it adds depth to the game which i think is unnessecary, especially if it's the "Hard to master, overpowered as shit when you do" kind of way they're balancing it.

Compared to dota i'd say:

Pros:
*Simple, not millions of items and heroes (n/a for the minion part)
*Strategic points that give bonuses
*More than one map.

Cons:
*Backdooring is possible (Skipping defenses to go directly for the enemy fortress)
*Spawncamping is possible (To be fair, this may just be because of a crappy AI, but you can still just run into the enemy base and wait for enemies, and potentially harass them to the point that they just have to sit and wait at the stone regenning their health)
* Minions just doesn't seem to work that well with the simplicity of the game

UI:
*Map can't be used to instantly jump to locations.
*Weak RTS controls (Basically you just got move and attack, you don't even have a proper attack-move, there's a "kinda" one that'll engage when meeting enemies but after defeating them he will not continue to his ordered destination)
* No proper minion UI
* Lack of minimalistic UI; a lot of the UI seems big and unresponsive/laggy, i don't want to go into a menu taking up half of the screen when i'm in combat.

So generally it's a good game, but personally i'm gonna go with the assassins, the generals just don't seem to be worth the hassle, most of the cons aren't really that much of a gameplay issue.

It's a game i'd like to buy, but i'd like to see the UI get updated, and i'm also not able to use Impulse to manage it, because for some reason they think it's any of their business what operating system i'm using, so they simply won't allow me to manage the game through Impulse.

How can it be a single player 'rpg' without a plot or campaign?

Or is 'tournament' the game's version of a storyline?

By only requiring a SINGLE player to play the game.

It's basically just skirmish and an "offline ladder" you can play.

Only 8 heroes is not much. I like the huge hero selection in dota, so it feels a bit limited in Demigod, expected but unlike dota i am sure we wont get regular free updates with new heroes being added all the time.

Every Demigod have a talent tree. From what i can see on SS i guess every Demigod have atleast 3 builds. So 8x3= 24. But still alot less then Dota.

But i bet they will add heroes/demigods overtime.

I preordered it, hope it will keep me happy for some time.

Thanks for the nice mini-review fisker_q. How does the AI seem? Is it a total pushover, or does it seem to atleast put up a mediocre fight?

Oh, and i wouldnt be to worried about bad UI. Stardock is very good at listening to their customers for patches and updates, just look at what they do for Sins and galciv.

Only tested normal, but it does seem mildly competent, as you'd expect of a normal level, haven't tried the harder levels.

They'll probably get stomped if it was equal amount of players vs. equal amount of AI, but it does work pretty well with 1 player and AI vs. AI
