Well, that's a bit of a reason for delaying it.
After i read what people thought about it on the net i really am not that excited now as i was at the beginning when the game was announced. Counting now on the new sherlock to bring some fresh air among quest/adventure games.

empty your inventory in the wardrobe, then pick up the mattress - click on the hand icon and place the hand icon in the top left corner and she will have it...
then trow it out the window, jump down then look for a B.A.R clue and your cell phone Wink

The matter is i know what to do. As soon she pried the boards off using the rod i immediately though about the mattress. Thing is i can't take it out of the wardrobe - can't put it in the inventory even though it's empty and it has enough cases for the mattress to fit in. It's a bug in the game i guess. it's not the protection - it's just that in terms of technical execution, the game fails in an epic way, worse than any budget production. first of all, it runs like shit, even though the gfx are quite crappy and the max res seems to be 1280x800 or something. animations are awful, characters look like they were taken straight from the half life1 era.

now that stuff wouldn't really bother me, but the amount of bugs reported on the net as well as those i've experienced myself is almost scary for an adventure game. bugs and glitches in an open world game are halfway excusable imho, but not in a streamlined point and click game with no alternative ways to complete anything and no other factors interfering.
it's simply not funny to run into a brick wall just because the game lets some item disappear or your character gets stuck in front of a door or when using a computer. in other games there are quick/autosaves or checkpoints, but who the fuck saves in an adventure, except before exiting? i don't. aaaaaand there i go, alt-f4-ing with 3 hours of gameplay just wasted Evil or Very Mad

anyway, if you can look past the technical issues and have a thing for serial killers and csi stuff, it's a good adventure game at the core.

You are right on when you say that game runs like crap. Slow loading, ton of animated features, can't skip dialogue. I try to open cellar windows and click on operate icon, Vic goes to do to it then stops to cough. After that she forgets what I told her and stands there waiting to die from smoke. It is timed event and every second counts.

There is only one resolution and it is 1024x768. Check out readme file or size of the JPGs included with saved games.

Many call this game Gabriel Knight 3 regarding poor graphics.

I'm not sure about any bugs because I finished the entire game without encountering any. Most of those people complaining about bugs did not solve puzzles properly. I'm constantly hearing about bad ending bug that is not a bug but result of people not disarming electric chair properly. If they did then they would get another puzzle to defuse a huge bomb "Die Hard 3" like and then got good ending. Hawker clearly pointed out that hatch will open if Paloma dies on electric chair and that's why you get bad ending.

Still Life 2 has auto-saves for most time events. Those saved games are marked with yellow PC icon. You can save game anytime you like by exiting to the main menu. Game can be finished even without collecting all the evidence and that is the reason why there are no check points. This is not FPS game to save after you killed some boss.

You don't need to save in adventure games where you can't get killed but in this game you can so it would be stupid not to do it not to mention that game or your PC can crash at any moment. If your PC is not connected to UPS and power goes off then you are screwed.

Who the hell is using alt-F4 to exit PC game? You must be some console nutjob. I only know Capcom console ports using some weird keys to exit the game.

There is plenty of detective work and game is pretty long. You also find identity of the killer form previous game. It is a good game but with poor graphics and bad optimization.

Be sure not to have some small hard to see item in your inventory and be sure where you try to place mattress. Icon should point to upper left corner, I think. Just keep clicking until it fits.

Probably, we've seen this before that the German version gets rushed to get out and later English version is a patched and fully working one Very Happy

You wish for! Just like people expected 30GB version of Far Cry 2 and everything ended with just 3GB. Still Life did have few patches so it is reasonable to expect one for Still Life 2 but do not expect some Oblivion Lost mod. Game works fine because I finished it.

If German voices are getting on your nerves you can turn voice level to zero or you can replace voice DAT file with the one from the demo. You will only get partial voices for Paloma and Vic that way.

you know what,
you can skip the dialog only if you have subtitles on,
game runs like shit because it has problems with map loading and allocating ram,
after 3 map changes this game runs like a snail,
after 9 it hard crashes corrupting the last auto save,
only exiting by alt-f4 and restarting it removes this error that shouldn't be there,
finished it in 6h would be 4h but the constant exiting to make it runnable made me kinda mad,
poor graphics...no people saying that are blind,
oh and those that compare it to the masterpiece that was GK3 should have they brain checked,

Yo guys, thx for the update. On some game portals the release date was due to April 15. Now we need to wait 4 months longer.

I hope before that period, Alan Wake will show up.

yeah, i agree. the rls should be nuked for an unclear and even misleading nfo!
nothing pisses me off more than lazy home crackers not being bothered by filling all the required nfo fields. follow the rules and fill the forms, you anti-bureaucratic hippies! Laughing

My bet is that this release is the downloadable one which was released a couple of days ago. it's just the retail store version that has been postponed until August.

If you want to support the developer you can buy it here.

Or you can save $10 and get retail box:

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=71834

Why support someone that is using Tages, Solid Shield plus activation? On top of that game doesn't support widescreen modes and graphics are abysmal with unoptimized game engine.

Retail version will appear on August 11th. This is download.
