If this isn't cracked by the 24th, i will be buying it from a supermarket, walking just out the front door, taking a photo of the key and returning it straight away saying i just realised my PC specs aren't good enough. There is no way i am paying for this game. Fuck Atari.
Thats kinda stupid. They'll sell it to someone else and he will probably be unable to play cause you used his key. I hate people who only think about their own ass. Just wait for god damn crack

Lol. You kiddies need to stop justifying your piracy and just admit you're too tight to pay for games.
I download games myself. But because I'm too tight to buy not from some made up sense of social injustice which I need to use to justify my actions.
i seem to have missed the part where newty blames social injustices for forcing him to do anything. same goes for him trying to justify his actions.
so what are you going on about?
this goes for the rest of the ones who replied. get off your retarded horse. it's high, yes, but all it does is make you look like uptight bitches. the sort of bitches that call security when they see someone pocketing a chocolate in a store. gah
besides, each key has 3 activations, so the one buying the "used" copy prolly won't even notice one is missing. if he runs out of activations, he'll email atari and ask for another, and even assuming the key had one activation, which atari, for some reason, wouldn't revoke, the buyer could take the game back saying it doesn't fucking work.

I guess you don't mind me stealing your car as long as I return it after I've finished using it, right?
ok lets get this Straight the only crack that would work for this game is a key/auth/unlock generator or a vca.bin file creator or a tages keyskip crack none of the others will work.
Now I doubt there will be any crack for Dark Athena, it seems the protection scheme resembles one that used in Windows Vista/7.

why yes, if i'd have a car i guess i'd mind you stealing it. would prolly call the cops too
kinda off-topic, though, isn't it ?
In principle it's the same. You buy a car, someone made a copy of the key, you have no idea, and suddenly you see someone else driving your car using the copied key, or you come out and it's dented and the tank is near empty. As I said, in principle it's the same.
it's a bit of a far-fetched analogy. what you're saying is more like someone buys a game, scratches the disk and then returns it.
on the other hand, using up an activation means fuck-all. judging from renafuse's comments from suprbay, you can lose an activation even if you overclock your cpu, for example.

"There is no way i am paying for this game. Fuck Atari." does kind of seem to imply it.
The only other way that could be taken is the games shit and not worth the money, but if that was the case then the whole by the 24th wouldn't stand as he wouldn't be so desperate to get hold of it.
Ergo it's a "protest" (read excuse) against activations and a "justification" for stealing it.
Just call a spade a spade. "I'm too tight so I'm stealing this fucker". Not that hard.
The scene is full of excuses. Too many people who just aren't man enough to admit what they're doing. Whiny little girls with their pissant excuses.

Lol. Admitting I steal it just because I can and don't want to pay is hardly an high horse, it's just an honest one.
The whole excuses thing is trying to make theft into a high horse but
I'm not the one trying to justify my actions. I don't need to, they're mine, I own them, I take responsibility for them.
why in christ's fucking sake is there a 'piracy is wrong' argument on nfohump? I was going to say 'fuck off' but the text size limits here won't allow me to make it big enough.

because it's a trendy argument, nowadays
although, i'm not sure there was such an argument
this was about 'stealing' an activation, not pirating, but i've been trying for a while to get drunk enough to fall asleep so don't take my word for it
and yeah, ewoo, taking responsibility is the manly thing to do, but you're prolly splitting hairs and reading too deep into stuff that didn't mean that much

I agree but these trolls just keep on coming.
people should just learn that their morals are THEIR morals and do not apply on everyone else nor can they apply it on everyone.

There is a difference between pirating and stealing a cd key and depriving someone else of something they paid for, or am I wrong ?
No, you're not wrong, stealing a key from a boxed copy that someone will buy/have bought is bad and whoever does something like that deserves to get smacked very hard with a 20 pound sloppy cod. It's one thing to "steal" intellectual property from a publisher, it's something else to actually open a boxed copy and get the key. To me that reserves a spot among the lowest of the low like pick pockets, street robbers and bicycle thieves.

It's not an argument against piracy, I'm more than for that, it's an argument against people who make excuses and don't take responsibility for their own actions, a facet of modern society which really pisses me off.
It's not unique to the world of piracy (i.e., movie actor who beats his wife, but it's all OK, it's not his, fault, it's the drink and he's in rehab!).
No wonder the world's going to hell in a hand basket.
agree, i think people should just be honest about piracy
lets face it... its not about 'fighting da man', and its not about righting an injustice done to us little folk by the evil corporations... face facts, we pirate because MOST of the time we will STEAL instead of PAY for something, because free and easy is much better than paying for shit and waiting for it to arrive or having to go down to a store.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena Version 1.01 Patch
Fixes:
1. Multiplayer - User is unable to join an online session hosted by a patched game or a game with downloaded content and message "Blahblah" is displayed.
2. Multiplayer - User is unable to join an online session if the port is not forwarded to 30000. This causes the message "session no longer exists" to be displayed.
3. Assault on Dark Athena - Game crashes on throwing the guards body into the rotating fan.

@ all the peeps who approve of this bullshit rental protection scheme, or those that saying "not buying because of rental policy = not buying anyway." That's complete horseshit.
No wonder all publishers give PC gamers the middle finger all the time, it's because of the people that think they have a right to not pay for the games. I applaud Atari for lock all of you bastards out; if you are not gonna pay for the game, you cannot play it. We all download shit, but it does not come to the point were I would think of screwing someone over by stealing their CD-key, which they paid for using their hard earned money. If you want the game this bad then pay the fuck for it.

Unfortunately, no one is gonna take you seriously with a post count like that since people can't help but think you're someone's alt and you're just trolling.
meh, just because I don't spam the forum I am trolling. I guess the truth hearts. People on the internet just want to hear their opinion in another man's post, otherwise they are trolling.
