For those that assume I hammered the activation server and thus got banned due to a dodgy key; I didn't. I tried activating ONCE, it was refused, I never tried again.

I added some info to my above post that you could try to get the server connecting properly.
Basically after leaving only the serial text file try a manual activation (That "I don't have a active internet connection" option) and it should allow you to access the data. (Click the link and get the file from the generated page.)

Heh, good to hear that you solved it, hope you enjoy the game so that it was worth the price of purchase. (And buying just a serial is a bit cheaper than full retail copy.)

Oh I've no doubt I'll enjoy it, bud! I *loved* the original - and I can't wait to play the "sequel" too. I just wish it didn't have that nonsense activation crap :-\
Bottom-line: Onlinecdkeys = RULE. €18 for a legit key.
Atari = Fucking sucks and I can't wait for them to go into liquidation.

Tried to play. Can't play. Screen flickers rapidly, framerate stutters even during the title screen, game crashes if I try to change any of the options.

Strange issue there Sabin, works here with the official 9.4 drivers, SSAO causes a bit of a performance hit though as Crossfire doesn't seem to be enabled yet.
(I can find a workaround though, perhaps renaming the EXE to the Butcher Bay one, it's basically the same - albeit enhanced- engine.)
If you use Vista I do hope you use "Run as administrator" or have UAC disabled as that can interfere with the game, also try deleting the config file or hand editing it to solve the problems.

Most options are self explanatory.
EDIT: Are you using the patch by the way?
(Fixes some stuff so do try it, probably doesn't make a huge difference to compatability though.)
