Tried both on Hamachi and on the real LAN, same bug. Also, I tried changing the host computer and it doesn't change anything.

I would have hoped the mini-image + yasu would fix this but the only mini-image I found was on gamecopyworld and it's an unmountable file.

Me and some friends are playing it all the time - No problems connecting through hamachi.
I'm also using the Mini-image from GCW, and i dont have any problems mounting it (Remember to unzip)..

A thing you might do is setting the primary network adapter to be Hamachi

You may also do the following, fixes alot of games connection problems:
1. Open Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
2. Rightclick the Hamachi Lan Icon and select Properties
3. Doubleclick Internet Protocol Version 4
4. Press Advanced
5. Set the Interface Metric to 10

If you need someone to see if it solves your problem feel free to PM me.

Worked just fine through Hamachi for me.

I'll have to retry the mini-image because I thought it was bugged. Thanks for the cue.

EDIT : Ok I retried the image and it's unmountable on Windows 7 (Daemon Tools is not compatible with 7 x64). It's a .mds file and it can't be mounted with Virtual CloneDrive.

I tried it on a WinXP machine with DaemonTools + YASU and the copy protection is kicking up as if there was no mini-image.

I redownloaded the file from GCW and I got the same 2 files after extracting, a .mds and a wierd p.ns one. Still no Men of War in lan for me I guess...

I too had some troubles with the game telling me that I have a backup inserted.
I did 2 things, both helped.

1. Start YASU before mounting the image
2. Keep trying opening the game - While doing so Uncloak and Cloak a few times.

This might do the trick, and hopefully you can play it soon.

Or maybe its you, my mid range computer runs this game smooth as butter.

Don't always assume it's the game just cause you run another game great. Obviously there is something wrong from your side if you computer runs crysis great and this runs slow, cause a much slower computer runs this game great here.

If someone is running the game with graphics settings that are too high for their PC or has a high ping, then this will lag the game for everyone else that is playing with them..

Men of War is 50% off @ gameagent.com ($15) right now.
How is the MP for this game? worth buying it for that alone? How complex is it and how long do games generally last? Do you need reliable friends who don't quit on you or is the game fast enough to not matter (like WiC)?
Need a quick MP-only mini review if possible.

Mp is the better part of the game IMO. If you liked the SP part, MP is a must.

Games usually last around 30 mit. Quitters are sometimes a problem. Russian speaking players are the majority and most of them only speak Russian Sad. You can had players to your hone ban/ friend list.

The rest is all good. Western community gathers around DMS site and theres a Xfire guild to ("Men of War cult")
Ther´s no cheating problem (apparently its impossible to cheat!)
Ther´s a learning curve on this game, you will probably get your ass kicked against the more experience players until you grasp what works best for you and against the enemy. but there are still a lot of new comers since the game as only been released in the last month on (north America)
Additionally there are a lot of mods coming, most of them design for MP play.
Japanese nation will be add sometime soon, ranked games is also planed if your in to it.

Just a headsup. That version of Men of War sold on that site is the release, published by Aspyr as you can also see on the site, and I belive tomorrow Digital Mind soft(the developers) will release a new update for all versions(Men of War have several publishers) except The Aspyr release because Aspyr apperently don't give an answer to the develpers on when they will have the patch packed and rdy for their version.

I belive the developers had given Aspyr until today to make it rdy and nothing was recieved from Aspyr so since the patch now have been ready for all the other versions now for several weeks they have desided to release it for everyone else.

Summa sumarum is that apperently The Aspyr version is not the best to have since it seems the developers have difficulty in communicating with Aspyr and Aspyr is not upholding their agreement and deadlines.

Just thought it might have an effect on some people if to buy that version or not.

Ofcourse you can just buy it and use the serial for the 505 version which was reelased to the scene. Since it has no copy protection it will work fine.

Gonna wait a couple of days to see if Aspyr does anything though.

@thyttel: Are the servers on the developers side or publishers? I.e. we can play with people from other publishers, amirite?

Got my version from GamersGate where they also posted the latest patch early. If you get the game from any other sources you will most probably have to use the beta patch which "breaks" singleplayer. This can be fixed by moving some files if you want to play SP, just check the DMS forums for the "guide".

Also, the Aspyr version is being sold on Direct2Drive and since Aspyr are being dicks when it comes to the patching, I would suggest getting your copy from somewhere else.

As B1kudo said the MP is great. Quite complex, but the learning curve when it comes to controls isnt that steep. The MP is full of action from the get go, and there is always something going on since most games are set to last 30 mins. No cheaters that I have seen, but be prepared to see some "shady" things happening, especially during tank only battles where the house rule is "no tank crews as scouts, no dynamite against tanks, etc". If you dont follow the rule you will get kicked but dont be suprised to see the host and his mates doing this against you. Wink As always these games are best played against people who you know but even against random peeps its still great fun. From the few games I have played so far, I havent seen any cookiecutter tactics or insanely unrealistic ones being used.

KeyserSoeze, there are almost no 1x1 servers out there. They are for the most part 2x2 or up to 16 player servers. There are a few servers that look like they are dedicated, but I am not sure. Faces of War installation included a dedi server folder but this one doesnt.

Like sayd above and...
There are 2 servers (based on UK) but player can host locally. (just check the ping and decide whats best). As host you decide gamemod type and resources available, nations. FF, etc ... Is always 1v1 team play unless you chose everyone for themselves wish is very rarely played.
Maps range from 2v2 to 8v8, but any number of players can be arranged as long as it don't go over the maximum for that map. You can set a password to "protect" your game so only yourfriends can enter.

Batlezones(multiples flag caping) and Combat are the most played. additionally theres free for all, capture the flag (single flag) valuable cargo (some kind of VIP escorting) and Frontline (1 attack 1defend) oh and coo-op ofcourse.

Yeah all versions can play with eachother. Ofcourse if they release the patch today or one of these days without Aspyr then the ppl having the aspyr reelase cant play with the rest.

The servers are hosted by gamespy, EU servers are in the UK but they actually tend to lag alot, so most people just host the games themself. And game runs smooth 90% time online hosted on users computers so you don't need the dedicated servers really.

I myself never play on dedicated and most people don't play on dedicated either as far as I can tell.

But game is fun as hell online and it's one of the onl games I play atm.

Will get alot better when the patch is released to make all versions same version number.

Also in the next patch(not the one released now) the Japanese will be added. I'm really looking forward for this as they were good fun in the beta.

The multiplayer is very healthy, the Russians really love this game. Heck all of Europe loves this game. The only problem is finding English speakers, but theres plenty of competition. I just loaded it up and see this:
 Spoiler:

These are all Euro servers, if I find an American one my ping is usually like 30-50, but anything below 250 is fine for this game. Just make sure you get patch 1.11.3 to play online, thats what most run.

Men of War takes place in Europe and North Africa during the height of World War II, the story unfolding across three different campaigns played out through the eyes of Soviet, Allied and German soldiers. Each campaign has its own scenario and structured timeline bringing a different story of the war to life.

The main Soviet campaign sees two student comrades, Smirnov and Kuznetzov, join the army and quickly become brothers in arms as they rise through the ranks and experience the rigours of war. The whole story unfolds across three campaigns, with five German and five Allied missions completing the trilogy, each telling a different story of WWII spanning across Russia, North Africa, Ukraine, Greece, Germany, Italy and the Pacific.

Men of War will feature no less than twenty new units to play with, including new designs on tanks, APCs and heavy guns. Dynamic in-game video enhances the single player missions, while the sounds of war have been given new range with over one hundred new sound effects of weapons and combat gear, recorded under real operating conditions. The single player campaign will also feature a fully customizable user interface, so players are able to have their command layout just as they please.

Key Features

* Three evolving storylines in the Soviet, Allied and German armies, comprising 19 missions in 3 campaigns
* 7 bonus missions for different sides of the conflict
* More than 50 new units to use in multiplayer mode
* Direct control system. Take over the control of every single soldier, or drive tanks and other vehicles, set up ambushes with antitank guns and blow your enemies up with precise and deadly aimed shots at their weak spots
* System of ratings and statistics for every participant in multiplayer mode
* New nation in multiplayer mode - Japan
* Revised controls interface – customizable and easier to use
* New multiplayer maps and 2 new game modes
* Highly detailed WWII environments and characters and faithfully recreated with a cutting-edge graphics engine

Men of War is scheduled for a summer 2008 release around the world.
